Are you hosting a Super Bowl Party? Or maybe heading to a get together at a friend’s house? Either way, you will probably need some food. Because, as we all know, it’s not about the Football Game, it’s about the food, right? Well, and the commercials!

We just love parties, and any time we have a good reason to host a party even better! Sometimes though, throwing a party, even a small get together can be overwhelming.

Here are a few tips to help you plan your Super Bowl Party...

Keep it simple...everyone loves appetizers, they are easy to make and eat. Prepare them ahead and you are ready to go.

Plan ahead...make sure you have plates, napkins, silverware and ice

Set up an area for food and drinks separate.

Serve the food on different layers, to make it easier for people to reach what they want.

Snacks are a must...easy chips and dip like this Pico de Gallo or Queso Cheese Dip are perfect

And lastly, dessert...brownies shaped like footballs, cookies and of course, Football Cupcakes are perfect!

As you may have already figured out...we are a little crazy about Christmas. And this year our decorating has taken many twists and turns and ended up with some of our favorite Christmas decorating we have ever had.

You can see the Holiday Home Tour re-cap and today I am sharing the Winter Wonderland Tree we created for the Living Room.

With the addition of the Twig Trees on the Mantel, we wanted to carry the feeling throughout the room. We started with some branches that we gathered outside, put them in a large bucket and filled it with stones.

Then added some spray snow. We used lights that reminded us a little of snow and also lights that you would see outside. A few white balls that resembled snow balls were hung, some snowflakes and icicles.

I traced an angel and dove patterns onto velum scrapbook paper and simply cut them out. The patterns are from Holiday with Matthew Mead. All the ornaments were hung with fishing line.

I think the Winter Wonderland Tree looks a lot better at night.

If you are out and about this weekend, be sure to check out the sale at Sears, they are running a deal of 50%-off select items and 40%-off the entire Christmas Shop!

Holidays and tradition go hand-in-hand! Our family has many Holiday Traditions, decorating our home, baking special treats to share with friends and traveling to see family far away.

Another tradition that is dear to my heart is one that was started many years ago by my hubby. He takes the boys shopping and they pick out a small kitchen appliance for me, but one that we can all enjoy together. We have an indoor S'more Maker, Popcorn Machine and Quesadilla Maker, but my favorite {and I think the boys favorite too} the Hot Cocoa Machine.

Usually a couple times during the week, I get out the Hot Cocoa Machine and whirl up a batch and add some special toppings. Recently we decided to give International Delight Vanilla Caramel Cream a try in the Hot Cocoa. Add a great holiday movie like The Polar Express and you have a great family evening, complete with holiday traditions!

Tell International Delight what your favorite holiday tradition is for a chance to win a $200 Target gift card from BlogFrog.

Add some cheer to your coffee or baking this season with International Delight's holiday flavors. Enjoy the taste of Peppermint Mocha, Pumpkin Pie Spice, White Chocolate Raspberry, Vanilla Spiced Rum or Gingerbread Latte and stir up a moment of sweet inspiration.

Capture the flavors of the holiday’s in every cup of coffee with International Delight creamers. Available in a variety of flavors, such as Cinnabon, Almond Joy and Pumpkin Spice, International Delight can make everyday feel like a holiday.

We are right in the middle of chaos in our home. It's a time we all absolutely love...Holiday Decorating! Like I mentioned when I shared the first of twelve Christmas Trees, The Ladder Tree...I'm a little crazy about Christmas. My family teases me terribly and aren't always too excited about carrying box after box down from the attic, but I KNOW they wouldn't trade it for the world.

It's tradition...it's something that my boys have grown up with. Doug puts together the tree and adds the lights, I string on the beads and each of the boys waits their turn to put their ornaments on the tree. We were blessed to have Grandma buy ornaments for the boys each year, and Doug also has many ornaments from his childhood.

	This is our Family Tree...

	And the decorating from 2011 {so far...8 or 9 more trees to go}

The Front Porch and Window Boxes have a special Vintage feel this year

The Kitchen Tree with antique kitchen utensils

And the Bird Tree for Splendidly Homemade Magazine

Think outside the box when you are decorating, like using a wooden ladder

Now I'd love to know, how do you spread real cheer with your holiday decorating? Please reply below and unwrap coupons and deals from Sears by seeking inspiration in the Cheer Tree. For all your holiday decorating needs and solutions, don’t forget to visit Sears and discover real deals, real cheer!

I'm not a coffee drinker, but pretty much every morning {and sometimes in the evening} I have a Chai Tea Latte. While I love Starbucks, and grab it as a treat, it's just too expensive. So I just make my own with Chai Tea Latte concentrate and milk. I was excited to see that International Delight has a new creamer in their Coffee House line, Chai Latte.

Not only could I use some in my Chai Tea Latte, but I could try the Chai Tea Latte Cupcakes that I have been wanting to make for over a year.

With the Holidays approaching, and colder weather, come nights snuggled by the fire with a cup of Chai Tea Latte or Hot Cocoa. Besides the classic flavors, International Delight has some more amazing flavors. In their Coffee House Inspiration Flavors, how about Vanilla Caramel Cream or White Chocolate Mocha? And they have Seasonal Flavors too...Pumpkin Pie Spice, Vanilla Spiced Rum or even Peppermint Mocha to mention a few.

To easily change the flavor of your cake or cupcake, simply substitute the International Delight Creamer for the milk or water, and you have a wonderful treat!

	Chai Tea Latte Cupcakes

 1 French Vanilla cake mix {I used Betty Crocker}

1 cup International Delight Chai Latte Creamer

 4 eggs

 1/3 cup oil

 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon

 1-2 teaspoons nutmeg

	Chai Tea Latte Whipping Cream:

 1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 tablespoons International Delight Chai Latte Creamer

1-2 teaspoons cinnamon plus a little on top

 2-4 tablespoons powdered sugar

	Instructions:

 Cupcakes

 Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until well combined

Divide batter into cupcake pans or tea cups for a fun presentation

Bake cupcakes for about 15 - 18 minutes

Tea Cups will bake longer depending on the size of the cup, test with a toothpick

 Whipping Cream

Beat heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form

Add Chai Latte creamer and continue beating

Gradually add powdered sugar and cinnamon

Beat at high speed until stiff peaks form

Top cupcakes and add a sprinkle of cinnamon

With a good portion of my life being eaten up by my blogging, and another big chunk of my time spent on chores and errands, the Cerra intention that I find myself working on the most is staying grounded. At the end of each day I find myself exhausted, so it's always important to unwind with some television or a good book.

Relaxation is key to living a balanced life. After all, all work and no play makes Jill a dull girl. Whether it's going out with my girlfriends, or having a fun night at home with my family, I find any way I can to relieve stress. I love my work, but it's also nice to take a break from it all.

Cerra also provides the tools to help me keep down to earth. My favorite of them is the Mood Shift Kit. When my hands are cramped from too much typing, their lotions help alleviate the stress in my fingers. Their fragrance cards provide me with both a nice relaxing scent and a mantra to meditate to. And Cerra's teas are good and good for me.

By using Cerra's intention of keeping grounded, it has helped me balance my life, and thus has made me a better person. Without the occasional times set out for relaxation and self reflection, I'd lose myself in my work and stress, making me a boring and generally disagreeable person. So thanks Cerra, for reminding me to return to earth.

I'm curious to know: What has inspired you to grow as a person? By replying you will be entered to win one of two prizes! First Prize: $150 to a Local Spa, plus $50 Gift Certificate to the Cerra Boutique. Second Prize: One of Five $100 Gift Certificate to the Cerra Boutique.

As you all know, I love Halloween! I'm not really sure why, because most of it is kind of dark and scary, which are two things I hate, but I do love the decorating, the baking, the cooking and, of course, the Halloween Candy.

Today I have a fun little giveaway for you, sponsored by Fanta. They asked me, "What are your favorite Halloween party tips, tricks, and memories?"

I have TONS of great memories from Halloween's past, and could probably bore you with those for an entire day {but who has the time?}, I also have a few tricks up my sleeve, but party tips...I thought you would enjoy hearing a few of those.

Last year we hosted the best Halloween party ever, but unfortunately my computer crashed last January and I'm pretty sure those pictures were on that computer. But I will share a few of the fun things we did...

	Halloween Food

 Dinner Ideas

 Treat Ideas

 Drink Ideas

	Halloween Party Games

Scarecrow Stuff: Form two teams; dress one team member in oversized clothing, then have the other team members stuff leaves into the clothes. First team to stuff their scarecrow wins.

Bone Dig: Take a big bowl of jelly, spaghetti, or other creepy mush, and randomly place bones inside. Then have the kids dig away for them. The collector of the most bones wins.

Mr. Bones' Scavenger Hunt: A search for missing skeleton parts made out of sturdy paper. As an added incentive, lock away some goodies until the guests find all the bones.

Now I'm curious to know, what are your favorite Halloween party tips, tricks, and memories? By answering you will be entered to win one of 15 Halloween Prize Packages (each a $100 value) from Fanta!

Trying to cook a balanced diet for my family is a bit of a struggle. We always have something good to eat, but it's not always good for us. I'll have to admit, I have fallen short to provide a good amount of DHA Omega 3, and up until a short while ago, I didn't really know how important they were, especially for our children.

	What is DHA Omega 3?

Omega-3’s, also known as “good fats”, are a group of essential fatty acids. There are 3 types of omega-3’s: ALA, EPA and DHA.

Why is DHA important for our children?

Research tells us that DHA may offer the greatest number of distinct health benefits. It has been widely studied for its impact on brain and visual functioning and its role in supporting heart health.

	What foods have Omega 3?

	Recipes with Omega 3

There are lots of great recipes on Eating Well, like Salmon Burgers, Black Bean & Salmon Tostadas or even Pan Fried Trout.

This Granola from Bon Appetit looks amazing! I have Oatmeal for my breakfast almost every morning and adding a little flaxseed would be an easy way to get Omega 3.

Ina Garten, aka Barefoot Contessa shared this Asian Grilled Salmon that looks wonderful!

Of course I couldn't leave without sharing a yummy treat, and these Banana Nut Pumpkin Butter Muffins from Danica's Daily sound A-MA-ZING! Bananas and Pumpkin Butter...yes please! I bet they are super moist!

Share how you sneak Omega-3’s into your family’s diet for a chance to win a $500 Grocery Shopping Spree!

DHA belongs to a category of healthy fatty acids known as Omega-3's. DHA is a major structural fat in the body, and has been shown to support brain, heart and eye health. Not only is DHA found in foods like salmon and eggs, but it can also be found in Horizon® Organic Milk enhanced with DHA Omega-3. Being a Mom is the hardest thing I do!! There are so many things that have happened over the years that have made me wonder if I'm a good Mom. I suppose all Mom's feel that way. But then I take a step back and really look at my boys, and two things happen...

First and foremost, I thank God for allowing me to be their Mother and then, second, I decide maybe I didn't do such a bad job after all.

Now, I'm not saying that everything is always perfect, and the boys are far from perfect. But they are GREAT kids, they are good students, they are polite to other people and they really care about others.

So why all this talk about being a good Mom? Well, Allstate Life Insurance is hosting a Hero Mom Contest.

I certainly am not calling myself a hero, occasionally I feel like one, but all in all, most of the time I don't.

Perhaps you know a heroic mom or see one when you look in the mirror. Share your story and be entered for a chance to win $2,500 cash from Allstate. Plus four runner-ups will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card. *The five finalists will be chosen from the Entries receiving the most votes.

One of the most important things any mom can do is purchase life insurance. Allstate has been helping to protect families’ futures with a range of life insurance products for over 50 years. To get a quote visit allstate.com/life

Even though my boys are all teenagers, our oldest already graduated and our middle son is a Senior, it seems just like yesterday when they were heading to Pre-School. We were fortunate enough to have a wonderful Pre-School that all three of the boys attended.

Prior to sending the boys to Pre-School, we worked on their numbers, colors and a little on the alphabet, and of course, visited the library and read lots and lots of books. I firmly believe that starting children off with a good foundation to learning is extremely important. All three of our boys are honor roll students, including our oldest that is in college.

As a Mom with older children, and watching them develop and grow through the years, it has become really clear to me that children need to be challenged. Our oldest son was struggling a bit while in 4th grade, and thankfully he had a teacher that really cared about the children. He noticed that Andrew needed to be challenged, so he gave him a more difficult book to read, different assignments and a different spelling list than the other children. Andrew thrived from having that teacher.

However, unfortunately, there aren't very many teachers that will go above and beyond like he did. KinderCare also offers Enrichment Programs that offer a unique series of programs with coursework in math, reading, fitness, music, cooking, or a foreign language that you will not find at other early childhood centers.

My advice for getting your children ready...teach them early and when you start to choose a Pre-School, make sure you both feel comfortable there.

I’m curious to know: What advice do you have for moms prepping for preschool? KinderCare will choose one lucky participant and make donation in their name to the Reach Out And Read chapter of their choice!

Eating healthy is an important lesson to teach your kids as they grow. From toddler to teen what we teach our kids can determine how and why they make the food choices they do, and influence generations to come. Snacking can be the source of a large amount of empty calories in the average child's diet so it is essential to provide them with the healthiest snacks we can.

As a family we have not always been the best at healthy snacking but over the years we have learned that it is easier if we have a variety of healthy snacks on hand. Which can include...

 Apples

 Bananas

 Berries

 Carrots

 Celery

Sometimes if you create a special presentation, kids will look past the fact that they are eating fruit or veggies. We love this Honey Lime Fruit Salad. Join us in the Horizon Community as we chat about Healthy Snacks for Kids.

While we are just like the majority of families when it comes to soda pop we encourage our boys to drink plenty of water and fruit juices along with fresh milk. It's amazing the difference in how you feel when you don't load up on pop at every meal and it definitely doesn't qualify as a snack.

One of the most over looked pitfalls is portion size, in this day of Super-sized this and Super-sized that it's easy for kids to overeat, sometimes even too much of a good thing can be bad. So we tell our boys to always grab a dish that way they can see exactly how much you are eating.

Baseball is by far my favorite sport! I grew up loving it, followed my local high school team and was THRILLED when my boys became involved in baseball.

To say that I've watched 1000's of games over the last 15 years, is probably an understatement...but I LOVED every single minute, even when the team didn't win.

Our middle son, Nick, has played the majority of those games. He started playing T-ball at the age of 4 and is currently the starting catcher on LaPorte High School's Varsity Team. He will also be playing in college after finishing his High School career next Spring.

The lessons Nick has learned from being on a team are immeasurable! He has had some outstanding coaches that have taught him a ton about the sport, and also some that have simply taught him life lessons.

Although Nick's main sport is Baseball, he also played Basketball up until his Sophomore year in High School, and is currently in his 6th year on the Football Team.

Nick is a starting tight end on the offensive team and also a starting defensive end. Being in multiple sports has been difficult sometimes to juggle schedules, but Nick has thrived through the experiences.

Some of my favorite memories are from when Nick was on the Little League Team. They are just so cute when they are that age!

Have you been watching the Little League World Series? Those players are terrific!

Right now, during the Little League World Series, Subway is holding an auction with specially designed baseballs. But, they aren't just any old baseball...they are designed by the Little League participants and signed by celebrities and artists.

All proceeds from the auction go to benefit Little League Baseball Urban Initiative! These are just a few of the fun baseballs that you can bid on.

I know having your children involved in sports means the WORLD to you! The lessons they learn stay with them a life time.

Answer the question "What life lessons do kids learn from playing team sports?" for a chance to win a $500 gift certificate for sporting equipment for your child’s team.

Want to help more children stay active by playing team sports? Go to SUBWAY® Baseball DeSIGNS Auction on Ebay. All proceeds go to the Little League Urban Initiative, which helps fund inner-city youth leagues and teams.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of SUBWAY® Baseball DeSIGNS. The opinions and text are all mine. The $500 Gift Certificate Giveaway Contest runs from August 19 - 28, 2011. A random winner will be announced by September 1, 2011. Official Contest Rules.

Creating an online business is something I NEVER dreamed I would be doing. I grew up watching my parents run several businesses, whether my Dad was selling birdhouses or tomatoes out of the front yard or my Mom running the Flower Shop she owned.

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to "be a Mom." Just stay home, cook, bake, clean and take care of my family. I was blessed to have found the right man that would work hard so that I could stay home. Now I'm not saying it's been easy...far from it!

Fast forward 20 years...I searched for a way to share my passion {cooking, baking and homemaking} with those that might be interested, but still make the money we needed to continue to raise our growing boys. College was creeping up on us after all.

And then...along came Hoosier Homemade!! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it could grow into the business it is today! And it continues to grow every single day.

So...why all this business talk? Intuit is currently hosting a Love a Local Business Competition! They will be awarding over $1 Million in Small Business Grants, including $50,000 in August!

And to celebrate, I have a very special giveaway for you along with a HUGE favor to ask.

	First...let's talk about the giveaway...

Intuit is giving away an iPad2 to a very lucky person that answers this question for us "What dream business would you like to start?" I would be over-the-top excited if one of my readers won!

I would LOVE you to vote for Hoosier Homemade! Intuit is giving away grant money...$50,000 to help grow my business! WOW! That's a whole lotta cupcakes my friends!!

And of course, you can nominate any business owner you want!

It’s been very exciting starting my own business, so I’m curious to know: What dream business would you love to start? By replying you will be entered to win an iPad 2!

Back to school shopping can be overwhelming, to say the least. The clothes, shoes, backpacks, supplies, lunchboxes, etc. etc. It seems like it's never ending.

My boys are all teenagers, and although I don't need to buy boxes of crayons or pencil boxes anymore, the supplies they need are more expensive. And the clothes they want are definitely more.

Several years ago, we started giving them a budget, this year we gave them each $150 for school clothes. Anything they wanted above that came out of their own pocket. This system has helped us in several ways, first and foremost, it has taught the boys how to figure out exactly what they want and how much money to budget for it. It's kept our budget on track. And we have eliminated the "I need or I want" everywhere we go.

That system took care of clothes, but what about supplies? Paper, pens, pencils, and everything else they need.

Now is the perfect time to stock up on school supplies. As the boys get older, the supplies just don't hold up, the folders tear and the binders get bent. And of course, there is always the surprise assignment at 10 p.m. that they just "happen" to forget about and need a new binder.

When the supplies start hitting the shelves, I start buying a little at a time. This summer I grabbed notebooks and paper, 10 packages at a time. And although it was only a couple bucks, it saved me having to buy everything all at once. I even grabbed some extra supplies to have in my office, it's the perfect time to stock up on those items too.

We have talked about clothes and supplies, but what about saving money on food. Meal planning is the easiest thing you can do to save money. If you have a plan, the shopping is easier and less expensive, your time and energy is saved trying to figure out what to cook every night and running through the drive-thru happens less often if you have dinner planned.

I LOVE to use my crockpot during the school year, especially on game nights. Prepare your dinner, toss it in the crockpot before you head to practice or a game, and when you get home dinner is ready.

Share your back to school money saving advice below for a chance to win a $500 Back to School Shopping Spree from BlogFrog!

Many of you know that my middle son plays baseball, lots of baseball! After this season, Nick will have played about 100 games...give or take a few.

In this picture, taken by our local newspaper photographer, Nick is diving for a foul ball. He played 1st base all High School season. During his Summer season, he has been back at his normal position as catcher.

Many parents enjoy watching their kids play sports, dance or even play the piano. Sharing in the joy of watching Nick play baseball, has been something we have done since he was 5 yrs old. We look forward to seeing him play many more years.

I’d like to hear about your moment of joy! Share your story and upload a photo (optional), and in return Shutterfly will gift you $5 off your next photo book to commemorate life’s joyous moments, and you"ll be entered for a chance to win a $200 Shutterfly Gift card.

I love to find new recipes. I have found several on blogs. actually I get most of them from blog carnivals.

I normally will leave a note on someone's blog if I am going to copy it to my blog and then change how it is worded. But recently I saw someone post that she would prefer you not use her recipes because she hopes to make money from her blog one day. I totally think she has a right to do this and am NOT upset. She was not even speaking to me.

But it made me re think what I do. So my question is how do you know when it is okay to copy a recipe and post on your blog. And by copy I mean not exactly but same ingredients and with your own pictures.

I guess i always assumed if it was on your blog it was up for grabs. What are your suggestions and how do you copy a recipe. I think for now if I see a recipe i will go to google and find the same recipe instead of using the blogs recipe. Although I love linking back to blogs

Okay cupcake queen, I need help. At least 2 or 3 times a month I make and decorate 50 cupcakes for church or other functions. Decorating the tops are not hard. But I would love a fun way to make the cupcake part taste good. I always just make cake mixes because it is cheap and easy. But I would love to make yummy peanut butter or any flavored cupcakes. But I do not want to nor can I spend much more money to do so. I am more than willing to make cupcakes from scratch if it is not too much more money. any suggestions?????

Once a month I cook a meal for our church. It is between 60-80 people. The budget is $120, the only problem is now we have to include paper products and drinks.

I have made PW chilli, biscuits and gravy, egg caseroles. Any suggestions. I am cooking this Sunday and the day after CHRISTmas so any suggestions would help. I am thinking chicken noodle soup but will need something kid friendly too. I always make a sheet cake for desert.

What would you serve, we eat at 10:30 so breakfast or lunch food would be great.

This is a two part post:

	1. It's a shameless plug. If you are wanting to order, please do so! :)

	2. I am seeking input and advice. (This is more of the heart than the shameless plug, I promise.)

I have been handpainting these tins that are perfect for so many things. Gift cards. To hold IDs and smaller items. For kids to store school photos. For memory keepsakes (I'm making them for the locks from my kids' first haircuts). Etc.

But aside from people I know placing orders, I'm not sure where to go to sell. I have thought of Etsy, but don't know anyone who has sold using it, so I'm unsure.

I don't have tons of time to just go post it around everywhere. I'm a WAHM, am super busy, etc., and painting is just what I do to relax at night after the kids are in bed.

So, does anyone have tips/advice/thoughts? It's much appreciated as I determine where I go from here. :)
