breastfeeding is by far the best for the child and mother.  I BF one and bottled fed the other -

I agree that if you can, breast feeding is best.  However, some babies don't nurse as long as you may like.  My daughter only nursed for 3 months, and by the time I got a pump, my milk had gone :-(  She has still turned out healthy on the formula.  But yes, breast feed if you can, but don't get down on yourself if you can't.

I bottle fed my first son and breast fed my second. Loved breast feeding. So many benefits.

It depends on the mom and child. Not every mom is comfortable with breastfeeding. I do think breastfeeding creates a strong bond.

I bottlefed all four of mine. I got a lot of flack, but it fit with my life.  My older kids also LOVED having the opportunity to be able to help feeding the younger ones.  My hubby loved being able to take his turn as well.

I think it's a very personal decision and it's completely the mom's decision as to what works for her.  Certainly, there are demonstrated health benefits to breastfeeding, but there are no clear negatives that I have seen.  I have four healthy, happy (other than the occasional adolescent surliness) children.  If I had it to do over, I'd likely do it exactly the same.

Welcome Baby,  Breastfeeding is best for the baby and it also has health benefits for the mother.  Moms who breastfeed are less likely to get breast cancer.  Thanks for your comment! I say hands down breastfeeding is best for both mom and baby. For those who like to get other family members involved, pumping breast milk is a great option! I was lucky enough to be able to nurse both of my boys and then we weren't able to have any more kids on our own, so we adopted a little girl and I have to say, it was hard knowing that I wasn't going to be able to nurse her like I did the boys.

I breast fed my Son. I just recently quit and although I don't miss it, I know it was the best for him. I really loved having that time with my baby. Whenever we would be in a crowded place, it was nice to be able to escape and be with him. He got to a point where he wasn't interested anymore, so I switched to formula at 10 months. But I will definitely breast feed all of my future children if I am able.

My son was adopted, so we bottle fed him. We did skin to skin feedings and I loved every minute.

I gave birth to my daughter, so I nursed her. We still do night-time feedings at 19 months, and I love every minute.

I am beyond grateful to have gotten the experience of nursing my daughter, but I my relationship with my son is strong and he is very healthy... so my opinion is that in the end, it  simply comes down to what is best for both mom *and* baby. :)
