3 gifts for Christmas???

Started by meclarks , author of Life at Martin Stream 11/5/2010 3:10:51 PM

I read on someone's blog that their family gives only 3 gifts per child for Christmas- based on the 3 gifts the wise men gave to Jesus. Unfortunately, I cannot remember whose blog it was! Anyone have any ideas? Google is not bringing me to the blog I remember reading, although it seems many others have written about it. The one I am specifically thinking of listed the meaning of the 3 gifts to Jesus, and their family's adaptation of those 3 gifts for their children...

Thanks for your help!

No idea about whose blog it was, but we do this also.  We have 7 children, so the gifts are nothing huge, but they each get 3 gifts to represent the gifts from the wise men.

We also do our stockings on St. Nicholas's day.  That's just some candy and maybe a small gift, like an electric tooth brush.

We do 3 gifts for each child for Christmas.  We've not actually tied it into the gifts from the Wisemen, though I think it is a great idea.  Actually I'm not sure why we started giving 3 gifts.  Nothing big.  Something to read, something to wear, and something to play with (or be creative with).
