Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?

Life has it's ups and downs. Sometimes I wonder if there is a reason for everything that happens. What do you think?

Yes, I do think everything happens for a reason.  I believe God is in complete control and even holds the hearts of the kings in His hand and can direct them where He wants them to go.  Even the bad things that we bring on ourselves or that is a result of the fall and curse, God works good out of.  We have a skewed view of what good is, so it may not seem like it to us, but God is working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.  I was just reading Psalm 46:10 last night that says, "Be still and know that I am God.  I will exalt myself among the nations, I will exalt myself among the earth." (my paraphrase).  Also, we know that not a sparrow falls outside of God's will.  That's pretty minute.  I believe the Bible teaches nothing happens by accident and God will glorify Himself.

Kimberly, I am sorry to hear about that. Keep praying. Prayer is what makes us strong. I wish you the best!

Kimberly B,

Have you heard of the book Sacred Marriage?  I have not personally read it, but have been told by my mom, who has used it to counsel a lady in her Bible study, that it's really good.  The subtitle is what if God designed marriage to make us holy not happy?

I'm so sorry to hear of your marriage problems.  All marriages do have problems, so yours is not unique.  I know that God has sanctified me through my husband and vice versa. Rreal romantic, huh?  We also choose to love one another even when it's difficult.  It sometimes involves having to take every thought captive so as not to attribute motives where there are none.  I don't have all the answers, but my marrieage has been through difficult spots and I'm so grateful to the Lord that He has brought us to the place we are today.

Kimberly B. I hope that book helps you. My marriage is pretty rough right now too. I might have to take a look at that book as well.

Right now I am reading too good to leave too bad to stay.  My issues with my husband are mostly caused by his drinking, verbal and mental abuse of me,  its gotten to the point my 10 yr old daughter wants me to take her and her sister and leave.  My 10 yr old has nightmares 4 out of 7 night a week and a host of other anxioity(sp?) issues.  I have prayed and prayed about help with his issues and I feel I have not received a sign of what to do.  Do I take it as a sign that my child is telling me to leave? Or do I stay tough and stick with it even though I am starting to hate him? I also feel very guilty about contemplating leaving, I vowed to stick with this marrige but Its getting to tough for even me.  I cry at least 2 to 3 times a week over the way he makes me feel.

I do not have any advice, but please know that I am praying for you and for your whole family.  Also know that God will give wisdom to those who ask.

I hope that you were able to find a Bible and are taking some time out of each day to read it.  That is how God communicates His will to us.

Praying for you!

All you can do is pray right now. I will also keep you and your family in my prayers.
