Any planners out there?

What are you plans for the weekend? Henry and I are going out on Saturday  night for date night. Whoo hoo!  I also plan on trying to make cake balls for an open house at Natalie's school. I'm hoping they turn out.

Lexi is having a friend over tomorrow night.  On saturday, I will do cleaning or whatever while my sweet hubby starts working on the bathroom. On Saturday night, we will have our weekly pizza and cartoons night.  Cannot wait til the basement is done!!!  Leighann, hope your cake balls turn out for you.

Leighann, are you using special kind of pans to make the cake balls?

How are you making them?

I love trying to make new and different things for treat day!!

Johanna - I wanna come over for cartoons and pizza lol! Lexi has become my buddy in choir! I love her! Do you think we will have school in the morning?

I am curiouse about the cake balls to how do you make them?

Great now i am craving cake lol!

Is it wrong to eat cake after 10pm?

Oh dear. Please don't blame me if you become addicted to these. You bake a cake and crumble it all up, add frosting, mold it into balls and then dip in melted chocolate. I have yet to try and make them myself, but here is the link: (I am making the cupcake balls)

Tell me if you make them.

Robyn- it is not wrong to eat cake after 10 pm. in fact, i think it's good for you.

I don't really have exciting plans for the weekend (work, blech) but i do plan other things.... like menus.  i started planning our menu a couple of months ago and between that and shopping at aldi's for most of our groceries we've cut our bill in half.  We used to spend $400 a month on groceries and eat out 9-10 times a month.  now we spend $150- $180 and eat out about four times a month.  I'm enjoying cooking a LOT more too now that I always now what i'm making and always have the ingredients handy.  i try to recycle leftovers too so that we eat them but don't get bored by them.  For example: if we have grilled chicken one night then the next night i cut up the leftover chicken and make chicken quesadillas.

i love aldi

Katie - I can totally relate to how much more fun cooking is when you have things planned out.  We never ate out a whole lot (there are 5 of us) but I used to make tones of last-minute trips to the store because I didn't plan and didn't have time to figure out what I could make from what was in the fridge and pantry. Now I do some planning every Sat morning with my cookbooks and its so much more fun (for everyone).  I even let the kids suggest some of their favorite meals so they have something to look forward to.

My plans for this weekend?  I have a local blogging conference to go to tomorrow. At first I didn't want to go because it was all day on Sat but the boys (three teens) have been driving me crazy all week and now I'm looking forward to getting out of the house for the day!  Since that is all day, I'm trying not to have any plans for Sunday so I can just relax.

So nice to discover this community!

I think cooking is more fun when I do it on the fly.  I am clearly not a planner.  lol
