Blog pic: (want one?)

Do you use an e-reader (Kindle, etc.)?

Started by Shayna , author of Life: Forward 10/10/2010 10:00:14 AM

Now that Barnes & Noble has dropped the price of the Kindle and there are so many other e-readers out there I'm wondering if it's time to "bite the bullet" and get one - I do love to read and having so many books in one small device is tempting - but is it worth it?

Any recommendations?

P.S.  Here are some Barnes & Noble coupon codes - feel free to use to get your own Kindle :-)

no, but someday I hope to get an ipad. sigh.

I'm the same I want one but can't justify it yet they're so expensive here!

I have an iPad and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.  The iBooks interface is absolutely incredible.

I don't have one, but I have a friend who owns a Kindle, a Nook, and an iPad. She has impaired vision so was looking for a solution that would be easy on her eyes. She wholeheartedly endorses the iPad.

I've had a Kindle for about a year and I still love it. One of the downsides thought is not being able to loan friends books anymore. I mean, I could just give them my Kindle but that's like handing over my entire library which leaving me bookless. Overall I'd say the Kindle is worth it though.

I have the second generation Kindle (or Kindle 2), which was pretty pricey when I bought it.  However, I feel like I have gotten every cent's worth, and am not looking to upgrade anytime soon.

If I was just shopping around for an e-reader now, I'm not sure that I'd still go with the Kindle 2.  It would totally depend on price and what other e-readers had to offer.

If/when I do upgrade, I thought I'd kind of like to get an iPad.  But then, that just seems like a netbook in "pad" form, so.....I don't know.  But yes, they are more right now than I am willing to pay.

I just ordered the Nook for my birthday. Very excited. It should be here soon.

I have had my Barnes & Noble Nook since it was first released late last year and I love it!

I'm a pretty big reader, and I think it took me about 6 months for it to pay for itself - ebooks are so much cheaper that regular books, even new releases.

I also love that whenever I have a question I can go into my local B&N and the guy at the Nook counter will answer it for me.

I have an iPad and use the Kindle app.

I love it. I'm at college and I can't store a ton of books in my dorm. But with the iPad, I can have any book I want! I don't have much time to read, but if I do, it's nice to know that I have the option to read basically whatever I want.

It's also amazing for travel.

I have the iPad but I do so much work on it especially reading emails and news that I haven't had time to read a book.  The interface on the iPad is amazing though.

I would suggest maybe a multi use item like iPad.

We've been using the iPad to watch movies at night before we go to sleep and also for my traveling.  It saves me money tons of money from not paying the internet or movie costs in a hotel room.
