#BacktoBlogging Day 4: Who Inpires You?

Started by Kat , author of Mama's Losin' It! 9/15/2010 11:39:50 PM

In honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness month our giveaway sponsor, Electrolux, is working with Kelly Ripa to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

To highlight the amazing work they're doing SITS is featuring a cancer survivor who's determination to stay positive and optimistic is inspiration to us all.

Who is someone you find inspiring? What is it about them?

My inspiration was my mother. She went through a lot when she found out that my father cheated and had a child outside of the marriage and she remain strong. When they divorced she did not have anything( she quit work when I was little to take care of us). She gained back everything that she lost and even more. My mom has a very strong and unwavering faith that I have always admired.

My inspiration is my grandmother - for many more reasons than fit into today's post... suffice it to say that she's a fighter in more ways than one...

My post is posting at 6:00 am tomorrow morning (had to space out my posts a bit). The person who inspires me is another mom to a child with autism. She is an amazing cheerleader, organizer, fundraiser, and really looks out for other moms to be sure they're getting the break they need. She's amazing!

She also is a 3-year cancer survivor. I first met her when she had just made her 1-year mark. She greeted me and many other moms who felt isolated and alone. She is really amazing, and I hope she enjoys her surprise tomorrow! LOL

Today's post is very important to me because the inspiring woman I write about is someone very close to me.  He goal now is to educate and inspire others facing the same battle she has fought and I hope my post today helps her reach some of those people.

My mother is the most influential woman in my life. Not only because she gave birth to me, but because she is the epitome of finding the bright side in times of struggle. She has Lupus and has been battling it, along with a slew of other chronic problems, for as long as I can remember.

And, she's been the most optimistic person I know, for as long as I can remember. Not only that, but she raised six children, sent them all off to great colleges, and did so while living under financial strain. She is super woman! Love you, Mom!!

I wrote about my inspiration(s) in my post today - women who have embodied calmness and tranquility despite being in the fight of their lives.  http://bit.ly/bbAb06

Today I wrote about my life-changing experience with author, speaker & life coach Barbara Sher. I've always been a driven person, but Barbara helped me believe in myself and take important steps towards inspiring moms and their families.

I wrote about my inspiring women in my post for today. They are not cancer survivors but they keep me going on a day to day basis and that means alot to me. When I am ready to give up they are always there keeping me going.

There are a few ladies I thought of writing about. Two were Susan G Komen and her sister Nancy G. Brinker for setting up an amazing Breast Cancer Organization. It has changed women forever and their awareness of their body. But I have a post set up for October for that one.

Here is the lady I admire for today's post...Nancy Smith
