What's your earliest memory?

This post of Amy's prompted this question:

What's your earliest memory?

Mine is of a large fire in the mountains east of Melbourne.  We were caught in a traffic jam, and my big brave Daddy got out and walked toward the fireto see what was going on.  I was sooooo worried about him.

I was three.

I don't know how old I was, but I was in a diaper.  It was summertime and I was lying on the floor under a big attic fan.  My parents were frying fish in the kitchen.

I believe that is one of my earliest memories.

Now, the reason I remember everything about that moment is because for some reason, I floated out of my little body like a feather.  My Mom said I almost died of pneumonia as a child, so perhaps that was when.  I can still hear the fish sizzling in the frying pan, the attic fan roaring, etc ...  Very strange.

Mine was when I came home from aunty's and saw my new baby sister for the first time.  She had black hair and  was in a basinet on the floor in the loungeroom.  I was three and I said to mummy, 'She's beautiful, mummy!'
