What are you reading?

Started by Jeanne , author of A peaceful day 3/9/2010 5:11:34 PM

Hello. I am very frustrated because Blogger won't let my upload photos and I can't blog without them.  So there.  I am having a hissy fit.

And so I thought I would come over here and have a complain.  I put it under a completely irrelevant heading so that not everyone would realise that I am grumpy.  I don't think anybody much comes here anyhow, so I am safe.  Relatively.

How are you?  Are you reading anything?  I really do want to know - if only to get my mind off Blogger for just a little while.

What do you think about this community?  It doesn't seem to be working really, does it?  Should I take it off and forget about it?  What do you think?

Meh.

Bye.

Caught you! You really just want to know how ofter we call over, don't you? Did blogger get sorted? I find I have dramas for a while and then they seem to right themselves. I couldn't get on here last night. Was going to leave a comment, Question, on the homeschooling thread and just kept getting an error message. Today, no problem. Frustrating!

Sadly, I am not reading much in the way of books. I like to actually hold a book, there is nothing like it. A present most of my reading is done on the computer, which is great and useful and keeps me in touch but doesnt have the same comforting feel as a book.

La la la la la......So, talk soon, alright!

Blogger is still broken, which is why I am over here not over there. I am still feeling irritated, especially coz I want to show you the photos of tonight.

Blogfrog was being tweaked last night, which was why it wasn't working for you.  Hopefully it is okay now though!!

Ho Hum.

Hi Jeanne!

Well, after a very busy summer with no reading at all I have finally slapped my wrist and gotten down to some.  I'm reading 'Women Who Make the World Worse'.  Can't remember the author atm but she is a trained lawyer turned SAHM.  It is a refreshing and funny book.

The other book is in the same vein but more serious 'Domestic Tranqulity'.  Not far into it yet, but I think I will devour it ;).

I also found 'Scots Worthies' on our shelf, which I didn't realize we had, and I'm so excited about it.  I think we'll read it aloud on the Lord's day each week.  I love the archaic language, and the witness of the saints is very humbling!

Hi Jeanne,
I have moved over to WordPress, and I am happy.  I don't have problems with photos not uploading or Blogger issues. :D

At present I am reading Between Two Tigers - yes, still. I don't seem to have the time in my day that I need.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Blessings,
Jillian ?

It is quiet over here.  I forget to check so meh me. I am re~reading The Big Fisherman because it was all I could find on my shelves just now because I can't get to the library but I need to because the child has a pile chest high & it is now all overdue.  Are you over being grumpy with blogger now you can be grumpy with telstra instead for depriving you of blogger utterly?

So what ARE we reading?  Do you really want to know?

Well, I'm reading Hamlet's Dresser by Bob Smith, a story of Shakespeare, mental handicap and the understanding of the human condition.  It is good thus far, but I'm not far in.

Jemimah's reading the third in the Audrey series:  Audrey's Big Secret by Christine Harris.  It's as good as the other books in this fantastic Aussie series.  Lovin' it.

Hubby is reading The Secrets of Rosslyn by Roddy Martine, a fascinating look into the many secrets surrounding Scotland's Rosslyn Chapel situated only a couple of miles from the site of hubby's first job.  Apparently Rosslyn featured in The Da Vinci Code.  I wouldn't know coz I've never seen the film nor wasted time on the book, but I venture to say that the true mysteries of Rosslyn Chapel are far more intriguing than the fictional ones created by Dan Brown anyway.  I'm next in line for this book.

Joel, some of your choices sound wonderful!!

Keep your community!  It will pick up.  Just keep up the discussions...I will join right now ;)

I am reading High in Arrival by Makenzie Phillips.  Her writing leaves a lot to be desired, but her story is amazingly tortured.  So thankful for a normal life by comparison.

I am waiting to read "The Fruit of her Hands" by Nancy Wilson.  My BFF's mom works at the local Bible Book Store and ordered it for me last week.  Can't wait to start, since I peeked at the excerpt on Amazon.com

Jeanne, right now I'm reading Summer at Fairacre by Miss Read. I love her books! They are not High Literature, but stories of English village life a few decades ago. Her characterizations are delightful. Recently, I finished reading A Far Cry from Kensington, by Muriel Spark; Jayber Crow, by Wendell Berry; and The Confessions of Mycroft Holmes, by Marcel Theroux. I enjoyed them all.
