I don't know much about digi-scrapping, but I have used some free sites to make my blog backgrounds before. One of my favorites is Summertime Designs. She does the cutest kits. The best part is she offers them for free!

I really like www.scrapblog.com  I have been using their web based digi scrap service for several years now.  This past year, they have made many changes, sometimes i'm not always so thrilled with the changes.
They are a great site for beginners. they have pre made layouts where you can move every element.
I have also tried smilebox premium, & wasn't as impressed, you can't move/remove elements, you can only adjust the "noise/clutter" on the page.
I like that Scrapblog has a free download JPG & i have order several calendars from them (great quality)
I will post 2 of my fav layouts.  This first one is an original. Comparing 2 pics of multi generations, my daughter has the white hat on & other one is me!  Gave this as a mothers day gift last year.  The 2nd layout, is a completely pre made -insert my text & picture

My friend Cheryl is from New Zealand and she designs over at www.twolittlepixels.com She has some freebies in her store and we just recently gave away 5 copies of a Perpetual Calendar that we worked together on.

oh I love digi-scrapping!  I absolutely love, love LOVE Blushbutter.com!  Her designs are stunning.  I used to just print them out and put them into notebooks with page protectors, but right now I'm in the process of turning them in to actual books.  I blogged about my findings and sites that do that, and even gave a link to the one I'm in love with (because of the cost factor ! LOL)   if you'd like to read it here's that post:  http://sweetjeanette.blogspot.com/2010/05/do-you-do-scrapbooking-take-pictures-i.html

These are fabulous Ladies!  Anyone want to start a thread for "beginner" digi scrappers and one for "advanced" digi scrappers?

I'm also really interested in learning PhotoShop Elements and am looking for some resources.  If you have any tips - please share!

I do all of my scrapbooking by hand, but I'd love to get involved with digital one day!

How does it work? Do you design everything on the computer, and print it out for an album, or do you keep it as a "page" on your computer?

My blog is a handmade scrapbooking business, but I'd love if anyone wanted to do a guest tutorial for digital scrapbooking know-how! e-mail me: mbcscrapbooking@gmail.com

Hi Ladies,

I'm a little late to the party, but I am a scrapbooker and have been for years and years. I started my scrapbooking blog, Confessions of a Cropaholic this fall and love to talk to other people about the craft. As part of Digital Scrapbook Week on the Tip Junkie Community, I'm so honored to host a giveaway for some free digi graphics from my shop.

Personally, I'm a "hybrid" scrapper. I love to add some graphic bling to my pages and pictures, but I will never leave the traditional, paper-in-my-hands scrapbooking. I'm addicted. ;)

I am so glad you started this.  I tried regular scrapbooking and although it looked great it was way too much work for me.  I have to many pictures.  The digi-scrapbooking is more my style.  I have wanted to start but had no idea where to go.

Laurie - I have looked into photoshop elements too but havent taken the plunge.  Looking forward to hearing more about it!

Thanks ladies!!!

I am a digiscrapaholic. My favorite store is Designer Digitals. I also shop at O'Scraps, Shabby Pickle, After Five & Weeds & Wildflower Designs.

And I'm totally in love with these awesome planner/scrapbooking idea digital log books by Log Your Memory

I use Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac. I used to use Photoshop CS2 when I used my PC, but I didn't want to invest in the full version of PS for Mac, so I'm back to Elements and I love it.

I was so lost when I first started digital scrapbooking. I bought PSE 5 (PhotoShop Elements) and let it sit there for months. One day I decided to take the plunge. I googled "digital scrapbooking tutorial PSE 5" and made my first page. I had to use a few tutorials to really understand and create that first layout. I think it's important to take things slowly. Know that your first pages are going to look rough to you in a couple of months.

Some tips...

-try freebies at first, and then invest in some quality kits (my layouts really improved when I had coordinated, quality pieces to use) There are a lot of freebie list sites out there. I have some available on my blog as do many designers.

-join a community (I'll plug ScrapMatters here as the friendliest digi community out there!!)

-try out some challenges at your favorite site. They really help you get to know your program and stretch your creativity.

-ask questions!! I'd love to help anyone. I currently use PSE 8, but have used PSE 5 in the past. If you use a different program, I may have a friend in the digi-community that would be willing to mentor you as well!

-most importantly - have fun and be creative!
