Egg Recall?

Started by TheMenuMom , author of The Menu Mom | Recipes | Menu Planing 8/24/2010 2:02:30 PM

Did you all realize there is an egg recall right now?  (Yeah, I'm probably the last to know)  I don't watch the news, so guess I missed it!  Just read it one Facebook somewhere.  Anyway, if you aren't aware, here is the info:  http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763_162-20013938-10391704.html

Thankfully my eggs are safe.

I'm happy to have made contact with a family who raises chickens for eggs, so right now the eggs in my refrigerator are local.  Glad I don't have to worry about the recall and hope no one else gets sick from bad eggs.

The recall has been going on for a while now. "Roundy's" claims their eggs have not been affected so I did buy a dozen Monday-hopefully what they say is true. The price of eggs, of course, has gone up-supply and demand. I wish I knew of a local farm where I could buy eggs but wonder if there is much difference than buying from the store.

Fresh eggs in my opinion taste better and I think there may be more of a safety gaurantee.  I dont know about anybody else but boy am I fed up with our food being contaminated!!

I haven't connected with a local farmer yet, though I am looking for one that is convenient.  However, I do buy organic, free range eggs.  Milk and eggs are the two things I am consistent about buying organic if I can't/don't buy local.  Costs more, but so worth it to me in the quality and safety.
