Sam's Club, Costco or Neither

Started by TheMenuMom , author of The Menu Mom | Recipes | Menu Planing 8/10/2010 9:49:04 AM

Do you belong to Sam's Club, Costco, or neither (or both!)  As of yesterday we are members of both...  Sam's Club is closer, but yesterday we went into Costco (our first love - we are originally from WA where there were only Costco's) and came out members.  They just have several things we like that Sam's Club doesn't have..  So I guess we'll be members of both this year and see if we can cut the chains on one next year or not. So how about you - which do you belong to, or if both - which is your favorite?

We live in Arkansas, home of Walmart and Sam's Club, and don't have a Costco nearby.  In fact, I've never been to Costco and look forward to doing that somewhere, someday.  We are Sam's Club members, but with just the two of us we really don't shop there very often, at least for food, since so much is sold in bulk and it's a bit of a trip for us.  We love it, though, and occasionally go and indulge in browsing and try something new.  We also have bought tires for our vehicles there multiple times, so the membership is worth it to us overall.

We don't have either near by. We have a Sam's about 2 hours from here and used to go years back but find a hard time fidning the time to go there and back and I doubt if having to drive so far is saving us money.

I have no idea where there are any Costco's......

I typically always shop Target.  Lately, I've been trying to add more fish to our meals.  So, this past weekend we went to Sam's and loaded up...I was pretty impressed with the amount we were able to get for the price.

We do not have a Costco, but would love to go to one!

I am currently a member of Sam's.  I've been a member of both in the past.  I like them both, but we've stuck with Sam's - probably out of habit.  They are both just down the road from each other for us so it's six of one, half dozen of the other from a distance perspective.

I am actually considering joining Costco again.  They have a TV stand there that I love and they have a good selection of Organic products (more than Sam's from what I've seen).  We'll see.  I don't know if we can justify the cost of both memberships or not so we've held off.

We have been members of Sams club for a few years. I do like to buy in bulk on many items.. and I like to visit around christmas time and see the different things they have. Never been to Costcos ..dont have one anywhere near me.  Like to see one sometime though.

Costco by far is superd in comparison to Sam's. The organic items like the fruit, vegetables and milk are good. Food quality is better. The customer service is far better than Sam's, perhaps because the employees are paid 50% more than minimum wage. The store is cleaner in comparison. The price for the membership is higher, but you receive it back after a year's anniversary dependent on food purchases. We are very happy with Costco!

I'm not sure if Michigan even has Costco. I've heard of them but never been to one before. The closet Sam's Club is 1.5 hours away so I don't belong to it because I don't get over that way often enough to make it worth paying for a membership. Living in the small town that I do, it's either Wal-Mart or Meijers and I'm not particularly real find of either but choose Wal-Mart over Meijers.

We actually have a membership to both but we shop at Costco more often -- we will probably let the Sam's Club membership lapse.

At Costco, we usually buy non-perishables like bathroom tissue and paper towels. We also do their take 'n bake pizza which is very good -- we get an extra large one for $10 -- which is a a great value.

I definitely like Costco better as they have more Organic things but unfortunately the closest one is 2 hours away. So with Sam's only being 20 mins. away, I'm only a member to Sam's. I wish they would build one closer!

I prefer Costco, because it is always very organized, and clean. . They seem to really care about their employees, so the staff is always friendly and gives excellent service.

The prices are good, compartable to the grocery, only you do save in bulk, which always helps.  What I love is that they always have whaetever you are looking for, and the quality of their items is usually high.
