How Often Do You Have Dessert?

Started by TheMenuMom , author of The Menu Mom | Recipes | Menu Planing 8/3/2010 1:04:27 PM

How often do you have dessert at your house?  At our house, we have it approx. 2 times per week (well the kids do, hubby and I don't eat dessert).  That would be true dessert, and then we have fruit salad or something healthier like that a couple times a week as well.

I usually have some sort of cookies or brownies on a glass cake stand on the counter. Whatever is in there is dessert for the day. We all have a sweet tooth (sweet teeth?) so there's always something yummy there.

I don't make dessert everyday but usually if I make a cake or bars/brownies, they last 2-3 days. I sometimes make chocolate mousse or a jello "dessert" with fruit and cream....this summer has been the most I ever made desserts. We don't really "go out" for ice cream or anything anymore so I try to keep something around to satisfy cravings.

I usually make something during the week then I try do do something sepecial on Saturday for the weekend.  Had some out of this world brownies Tuesday night at bookclub.  EASY to make.

One box of chocolate cake mix

1 15 ounce can of Libby's pumpkin

Beat together until fluffy (about 2 minutes), Pour into a 9x13 baking dish cook according to package directions.  Let cool and enjoy.  Low fat and healthy.

That's right just the two ingredients, no water, no oil, no eggs.

I have had heard about the brownie/pumpkin mixture but haven't tried it. I do have a few cans of pumpkin in my pantry so when school starts I will bake a batch and freeze some for my 2 girls' lunches.....and they would be extremely healthy-pumpkin is good for you.

We have dessert everyday.  Everyone is on the go so much, I try to keep at least a container of cut up fruit, and usually some pudding or jello. We can quickly put in a travel cup.

I am also trying to keep yogurt parfaits, with frest fruitt and granola. It resembles a dessert, so it is more inticing to eat.

Every day-usually fresh fruit or jello, sometimes a yogurt that has sat to close to the side of the frig and is frozen!

About once a week, one of our oldest children makes Ghiradelli brownies (the best) and it takes 2-3 days for the 9x13 pan to disappear.  I put a small plate with one brownie per person on the dinner table when we set it, so they know we are having dessert.  So, the answer is 2-3 nights per week.
