We as Southerners have our own, unique ways of doing things. I'm a Mississippi Girl who married a Wisconsin boy and I've been trying to indoctrinate him in the ways of the South for over 16 years now. I would LOVE to hear what things or ways you think we Southerners differ from the rest of the country. You know we ARE different (I like to think of it as "special")!
I was born and raised in Alabama. My husband is from Chicago. One day we were on our way home and it was raining. There were a lot of people outside on their front porches sitting while it was raining. My hubby thought this was crazy. I told him it was a southern thing and he wouldn't understand. A lot of southerners aren't used to a fast paced life so we can find peace and comfort in small things like sitting on the front porch listening to the rain.
I know the answer to this question: Everything! ;D
One word: food!
As a northerner, this whole conversation really chaps my hide...
(hehehe, that's something southerners say, isn't it? or was it just that one Pace commercial years ago?)
Hi Sandi! I'm also a Southern girl (TN) who married a Wisconsin boy... Our son has the strangest accent.. it's a combination of the two.
I think Southerners are special because we are so friendly! It's not fake -- we're really just THAT friendly.
Just my 2 cents...
Melanie
