My dishwasher broke down at the weekend. I didn't break down along with it I'm happy to say. I was sad, because I find it such a great help to have, but keeping things in perspective meant that I was just grateful it wasn't my washing machine. I go into meltdown when my washing machine breaks!

Now, let's face it, compared to our grandparents and beyond we are spoilt! But what is the one appliance you can't do without?

Would you happily let go of your cooker and build a campfire or would you be lost without it? Or would you rather give up your washing machine?
