Aggression in Nonverbal Children

Started by amalia , author of observations from a special needs mom... 7/13/2010 12:04:56 AM

Does anybody have any special needs nonverbal children that exhibit aggressive behaviors?  If so what have you done about it?  I am struggling with a 13 year old boy with CP who is getting very aggressive and I don't really know how to handle it.

I have a seven year old non-verbal autistic blind kiddo (former 23-weeker) and we have been struggling with this for years. We worked for quite some time with OT/sensory integration stuff (the whole brushing protocol, therapeutic listening, etc) but then I agreed to try a little medical help too... My little dude has been on Neurontin and doing better, although we're not quite "there" yet. I'm so interested in this discussion, though, because it worries me so much as he gets older/bigger/stronger and I worry about managing him...
