Can Anyone Who Moved Their Blog To WP Help?

Started by kristen , author of Fun Being Frugal — Because Saving Money Shouldn't Hurt 9/9/2010 10:24:12 PM

I am in the process of moving from Blogger to WordPress and getting very nervous!

Reasons:

1. My blog name is changing

2. I currently have a Page Rank of 4 and heard it drops- Yikes!

3. Navigating WordPress will be like being thrown in a foriegn country

But- I do love:

1. Owning my own domain

2. Having my own hosting company

3. No threat of Google locking me down

If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it heart

Yikes...I'm on blogger.  I feel like you have a lot to tell me.  I hadn't had real problems so far....and the idea of moving everything and starting over is...YIKES!!

All went well with the move, except I lost all of my Google PR ranking. I expected it, but ick my stomach dropped to watch it go from a 4 to a 0.

I really like WP and the control I have, as I pay for the hosting. I didn't dislike Blogger and it was certainly easier. I had just seen too many blogs like mine pulled.

I moved to Blogger because someone kept hacking into my word press and posting.  I had so much spam there it was not even funny.

Bonnie, that's horrible! Were you self hosted or on WP.com?

I had a website and my host set it up for me.  I have since switched hosts and blogging platforms.  I'm much happier

It seems there are pros and cons to all platforms, I guess. I am really liking WP, but have so much to learn still
