What's your favorite holiday tradition?

Share your favorite holiday tradition for a chance to win a $200 Gift Card from target. One of our family's favorite holiday traditions is making -- and enjoying -- rice pudding. It's been passed down through the generations. My kids love seeing who will get the one almond in the pudding. Whoever gets the almond gets a special Christmas prize!

I am sharing more about our Christmas Tradition and the recipe on my blog.

I love reading the Christmas Story with the kids! It's all so much fun!

What a neat tradition, Jen! I've read about it before, but didn't realize it was Danish. :) My favorite Christmas tradition is having both sides of our family over on Christmas Eve for a dessert buffet. We do it right after the church service, and anyone who's in town and wants to come is welcome. It's so much fun!

wow, I really want to try this recipe! It sounds delish! One of my fave traditions is going to our Christmas Eve service at church ... I always end up all teary eyed by the end but it's a wonderful time and always makes it truly 'feel' like Christmas has finally arrived. =) kathy k

One of our favorite traditions is to take our time opening up presents on Christmas morning. We wait until brekfast is easten and dishes are done, then we all sit down around the tree. Hubby plays santa and passes out gifts one by one. We all watch each person open up their gift before we move on to the next one. It helps the kids practice patience, but moreso, it ensures they appreciate each and every gift they receive.

Rice pudding brings such memories for me. My Grandma on my dad's side was Dutch, and made the best I have ever tasted, even though I hadn't tasted any other. But it was always s thrill to look forward to. thanks for the recipe, I'll give it a try.

We made that rice pudding in a cooking class I took at school. I love the idea of giving the finder of the almond a special gift, but did you know that the "traditional tradition" is that the person who finds it is going to get married in the next year?

I love traditions! We always get together on Christmas Eve then we go and see the lights at Temple Square, eat Crab, play games, open our jammies, then finish the night with the nativity story. Then the next morning everyone comes to our house for Swedish pancakes.

I make sugarplums! It is really like chocolate butter! Butter, brown sugar, 10X sugar, vanilla, oatmeal and chopped pecans. You make the odugh and chill......then make bite size balls of the dough and roll in 'sprinkles.' I have been making these since 1969. You must keep them refrigerated since they are are so buttery. The recipe was on a sugar bag.
