Take An Adventure With Journey 2

Started by Toni , author of A Daily Dose of Toni | Florida Mom Blog | Gulf Coast Living 8/13/2012 11:00:10 PM

We went on an adventure to a mysterious island and we will always remember the fun and fear we encountered.  Oh wait, I'm thinking about Journey 2: The Mysterious Island again.  My kids and I headed to theaters when this movie was out and when it hit redbox they were ready to see it again.

So off to the local redbox we went and picked up Journey 2.  Having loved the first Journey movie we were all a little worried this may not live up to the excitement the first one provided.  Luckily our fears were moot because this movie was AWESOME.

It takes a lot for my kids to sit through a movie at the theater and it's unheard of for them to watch very many after they've seen it once.  This was not one of those movies.  They were just as ready to watch as Sean (Josh Hutcherson, The Hunger Games) took on another adventure, this time with step-dad Hank (played by The Rock AKA Dwayne Johnson).   Encountering excitement, scary moments and life threatening situations, Journey 2 was enough adventure without being too scary for my 3 kiddos, who are 7,9, and 12.

In fact here is what they each had to say about the movie when I asked their thoughts (I begged them and even tried bribing to no avail to get them on video, they would not do it...funny how they like to show up in my serious ones but when it features them they will have no part of it)  I did get them to share their thoughts at least:

G (12):  Journey 2 was awesome, I loved when he rode on the insect, though the mushy stuff kind of grossed me out (hehe, typical 12 year old)

A (9): That was Awesome.  They had to fight, the helicopter guy was funny.  I want a big piece of gold like that.

B (7):  That girl was pretty, can we go to that island one day.

Overall this is definitely a movie kids of all ages will love.   Though I do think they need to be an age where they can understand what's going on in the storyline.  Head to your local Redbox today and pick up Journey 2 for a fun family night in.

We haven't seen too many movies so I'm going to have to say The Avengers.

My son is still stuck on Madagascar, lol.
