Extremely Dry Skin Solution?

Started by Connie , author of Smockity Frocks 1/3/2010 11:14:34 PM
This dry, winter weather (and possibly my pregnancy hormones?) are wreaking  havoc on my skin! My legs are so dry and itchy that I feel like I am constantly wanting to claw at them.

What lotions/skin creams do y'all recommend?

I am not a lot of help here because I have extremely oily skin. However, my daughter has really dry skin so I am always trying to find something that works. I have not tried this, but when I was at my sister inlaws house over the holidays she told me she uses coconut oil, like the kind you cook with. Both her and my mother inlaw say it works great. So, I am going to get some to try on my daughters skin and see if it works.

Do you have a humidifier in your home. That might help a little... not sure I can be much help other than that.

Arbonne's skin conditioning oil ($12) and ultra hydrating lotion ($18). My son's hands get nearly raw from the dry and cold and these two together (and now he can use just the lotion) have worked WONDERS.

If you're interested, email me (mnkarbonne@gmail.com)

Humidifiers and not taking very hot showers/baths or very long ones (which you're probably not doing anyway due to the pregnancy) will help too!

I use Melaleuca products for our dry skin.  Their renew lotion is wonderful.  And my son, who has excema, gets Mela Gel on his hands (and other dry spots) twice daily to keep from flairing up.  Mela Gel is basically tea tree oil...love it!
