What are your best housecleaning tips?

Started by Nicole- Chasing Blue , author of Chasing my kids is my warm up! 12/15/2009 8:43:32 AM
Hey everyone! I'm newly pregnant with my #5 and I'm swimming in chores and clutter!

My energy is low and I'm trying to get as much done as I can but I just keep on thinking there is a better faster way to get things done around here.

Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks!
Nicole

My absolute, hands down, all time favorite "cleaning" tip is the Motivated Moms Planner. I love this thing. It breaks chores down into manageable daily activities and if you follow the schedule you never really have to do a big cleaning. It is awesome, and many of the cleaning jobs can be done by little hands too.
I think it costs $8 for the yearly planner, but it is worth every penny!

My favorite cleaning tip, is set limits for yourself and don't over think it. I do one hour of power cleaning every morning to stay on top of things so they don't get out of control. This is how I do it here in this post. After one hour, I walk away and get to playing, homeschooling at working my WAH jobs.

Nicole,
I posted this discussion in another community and got lots of great tips.  One thing I've done lately that is really saving my sanity is a "midday pickup" While I make lunch the kids tidy up all the toys.  Not clean = no lunch.  We've been doing it for about 2 weeks and I am loving it.  All morning I don't worry one bit about the mess they are making b/c I know it will be cleaned up at lunch time.

I agree with Lisa. I spend an hour doing a power cleaning and then get started with my WAH projects or running errands. This is the only way I get anything done, because inevitably the phone rings and someone needs to be picked up somewhere or dropped off.  Find the time of day that you have the most energy and work around that. Best of luck!
