How do you Home School with little ones around ??

Started by Rachelle , author of Mamas Little Bears 10/23/2009 2:27:18 PM

I am a mom of ten blessings. Right now I am homeschooling seven of those blessings. Their ages range from 15 to 5. I spend a lot of time with the 5yr, 6yr and 7yr. The older ones can do most of their work with out me.

My problem is what to do with the little ones. I have a 3yr, 2yr and 4month baby. I have tried having the older ones take turns watching them, sometimes it works most times it doesn't.

I found myself doing school all day! Between teaching the younger ones, checking the older ones work and keeping the little ones out of trouble it is a long day.

I would love to hear how you ladies handle this. I am open to any ideas you may have.

Look forward to your ideas and tips ;-)

Blessings-

Rachelle

I can't really offer any tips, but I do empathize. It's an ongoing challenge that I face even though my younger 2 are 7 & 5.5. I'm trying to remember what mine were doing when they were toddlers & was homeschooling my boys. I guess I just gave them a space to play in & probably had them enjoy some Brainy Baby videos in another room.

I have posted a series about multi-level homeschooling and several of the posts focus on homeschooling with little ones.  I still have more questions to answer and feel free to add any more specific questions that you may have, although honestly with one more child than I have and you're oldest being older than mine, you should probably be giving me advice.

This is the first year I am homeschooling. I am only schooling my oldest, but just one takes me all day. I have 2 babies and another in public school and one in preschool. So I think that the extra running around to pick up and drop off cuts into homeschool time. I am starting to think that I should have homeschooled both my 8 yr old and my 6 yr old. Right now we don't have a homeschool room, so I can only fit one child in my office with me for lessons. I carry the new baby around a lot and she sits in my lap while I teach my 8yr old.

I would love to hear more tips.
