To Eat In 2010

Started by c jane , author of c jane enjoy it 1/6/2010 3:03:25 AM
As a avid fan of Intuitive Eating, I cringe every time I hear someone is going on a diet. So, this being the new year and all, I've been cringing a lot lately. Diets are no way to resolve to welcome the new year, take my word.

How about this, how about today we talk about the food we are going to eat MORE of in 2010?

I will start.

In 2010 I resolve to eat more:

Nutella
Kiwi
Orange-chocolate combinations
White fish
Sugar cookies
Trail Mix
and
Falafel

And you?

Salmon, Brown Rice, Sushi, Spinach, Nutella (which is currently on my Costco list, because my girls ate it all), Falafel, Pita Bread, Boiled Eggs, Ham, & Grapefruit.

Not all at once. I promise.

I love this!

Along with all of my tastebuds, I second the decision of Nutella.  I also want to eat more salmon, brown rice, and boiled eggs.

I want salad bar with all of my favorite toppings (including boiled eggs), and fresh fruit juices from my power juicer.  I want toast on homemade wheat bread with the sour cherry jam (sweet!) I made myself for the first time last year.

I have never had falafel, but I looked it up and it sounds delicious.

This is so much more fun than listing what I wont be eating.

Although there really isn't anything that is off limits, I do try to be smart about what I put into my body. Smart is a realtive term. Especially since right now I am living off of mini candy canes. I stocked up before the stores made space for their Valentines Candy.

This year I want to eat more fish, oh I love fish.
I also have a goal to introduce two new recipes to our famililes weekly meals every week. Who knows if this will happen, but I am going to try.
I also want to eat more homemade bread, popsicles, vegetables, especially greens, and find some great recipes for indian cuisine.

Dont want to be left out, I better add Nutella to my list, Good thing I am planning on Costco today.

Been lurking 2 yrs. New Year's resolution = stop lurking, and eat more homemade wheat bread hot from the oven with real butter (I have the loveliest wheat biscuit recipe), fish, and popcorn with the kids during family movie night.

Here's the greatest way to eat nutella.  Get 2 shortbread cookies and put nutella on one and peanut butter on the other.  Then smash them together and dip your cookie in hot chocolate.  The nutella and peanut butter will melt together a little bit, and it is truly unbelievable.

I am vowing to eat more of the veggies I love that I have essentially cut out because my husband claims he doesn't enjoy them. These include asparagus, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and spinach.

They have been missed.

Fresh vegetables and fruit that are in season.... I'd like to focus on eating locally a bit more.  And dark chocolate.  I figure I can TRADE my chocolate for a darker variety but there will be no giving it up...

I am going to eat more sushi for sure!  I just can't get enough.  And more salads.  I love me a good salad.  I think my goal should be to learn to make better salads that I will eat!

My kids (and myself) go crazy over Nutella.  After school, they all plop down at the counter like defeated puppies and beg for Nutella sandwiches.  Sometimes we add bananas on top, or strawberries.  Or, if you are a purist, like my eight year old Megan, you will skip all of the above and just start digging your finger into the Nutella jar.

This year, my goal is to make more homemade pasta.  It's easier than you think, but the difference to store bought will convert you forever.  I promise.  (If you want a recipe to start with, I just posted one for spinach and cheese ravioli.  Check out www.dailygrapefruit.com.)

And of course, more dark chocolate is always a goal.  After all, think of all those antioxidants it provides...

All of you Nutella nuts are cracking me up!

This year, I will eat more salmon, more spinach salads, more fruit, and drink more water.
