I wish I would've had this with my son! He was a thumbsucker from the time he was a few weeks old and struggled so badly to stop!

Hi Andrea - I wish I had thought of it sooner - and thought it was ok to make them stop sooner!!! It took them 3 months because they were so much older than they should've been. I just felt that was their "comforter"...I felt so mean making them stop sooner...so I waited too long!

I realized too late I should have made him stop sooner too. I just felt bad about how hard it was, I mean, he'd had this habit since birth! Every once in a great while I'll see him with the tip of his thumb resting on his bottom lip, but he's stopped for the most part. I did forward your blog and etsy shop onto my SIL, she's got 2 thumbsuckers right now, 3 and almost 5.

I blogged about my frustrations while trying to get him to stop. Your idea would have been a lifesaver!

I sucked my thumb until I was 7! I had this blanket, and I would suck my thumb and rub the fuzz of my blanket on my upper lip. I had the worst overbite because of it. My parents finally said that on my 7th birthday I would have put the blanket away. As soon as I gave the blanket up, I stopped sucking my thumb. But... I was not a happy camper about it!
