Redbox Summer Family Fun with Princess Kiara

Started by Bridgette , author of Product Reviews by the Experimental Mommy 7/18/2012 5:00:10 AM

With two young daughters in my home, we are certainly no stranger to princesses.  In fact, we have an entire closet filled with costumes, tiaras, high heels, earrings, wands and jewelry...pink, of course.  Because I have encouraged pretend play and imagination from a very early age, my daughters are comfortable with roll play games.

I remember when I was young, I loved to play princess as well and pretended many times to be rescued by a handsome prince.  Today, it is wonderful that movies are portraying the princess as strong, brave and determined who often rescues and helps others.  This theme is definitely reflected in my daughters' playtime as they rule their kingdom with heart and compassion while being independent and brave.

Living in New Orleans, my oldest is naturally drawn to Princess Tiana in the movie, "The Princess and the Frog."  At home, my daughter will run her own restaurant and make beignets while wearing a gown and high heels, just like Tiana.  I love that Tiana shows such determination in the movie and shows what you can accomplish with a dream and hard work!

On a recent Family Movie Night, we decided to celebrate princesses and rent "Kiara" from our local Redbox located at Walmart.  Just like the princesses of today, Kiara fights the evil forces that threaten the kingdom of Dreamzone.  For just $1.20, we were able to provide a fun filled night for all of us!

My daughters are into Tangled lately... so I suppose Rapunzel is pretty inspiring. She goes after what she wants and ends up getting it! :)

My girls love Aurora I always loved Belle for her independence and intelligence!

Cinderella, she came from a very hard place (once her father died) but still believed that things could turn around, and was happy with her life either way. More of us should feel that way.

My kids are really into Sleeping Beauty, but she's just about the least inspiring princess ever. I'm going to go with Merida for me :)

I really love Ariel and her determination!

The girls like Tinkerbell although I like Ariel. We really did not enjoy this movie, though. I'm surprised you did. It's not even about Kiara!
