The Magic Wand - How do you do it all?

Started by Mary , author of Mary Heston | "Ocean in view. O!, the joy!" 2/19/2012 6:29:38 PM

This morning I posted a short note on my blog about my Magic Wand.  You can READ it HERE.  I had mentioned to one of my older kids that I wished I had a magic wand and could just wave it and have my home office all tidy.

What is your best tip for getting things done and still having time for adventure in your life?

Two things I suggest:
Make a good list of your goals and tasks AND have spurts of "power punch focus" so you can deliver a lot of impact in a short amount of time -- (Remove distractions if you can. For example, with online work close Facebook and Twitter (etc) down when you want to dig into work. Otherwise, the distraction greatly increases your time.)

I can easily find myself overwhelmed with all I need to do and responsibilities. My husband and I have a small motel/bed and brekfast that can keep us very busy. I also work outside part time as a nurse, and am volunteer EMT for our location fire department.

I use lists alot... ; it keeps me focused on doing what has highest priority. Otherwise I flit from one thing to another without finishing anything! ... also helps when sit down at the end of the day and cross off items on the list. I get a feeling of accomplishment. Rarely do I get everything crossed off.

When I start to feel that overwhelmed in the pit of my stomach I sit myself down, deep breaths and remember one thing at a time. And do not look beyond that one thing I am working on right at that moment.

Just like any Blog Frog community this is not a place to spam other members. Your home business may be a great adventure so if you have some great information to share with the community about something you learned that made your adventure easier, more exciting, or something otherwise informative then post away. But if you are just posting links to a "business opportunity" that's really not what we're going for here.
