How Do You Avoid Writer's Block?

Started by Tots2Tweens , author of Tots2Tweens 3/14/2012 1:07:37 PM

This week's Blog Awesome Challenge asks you to share your first post or your About Me page.  Two things that are really tough to write!

Where do you find inspiration to write?  And how do you avoid writer's block?!

I'm taking part in a daily prompt challenge. Prior to that I really struggled at times, finding things that were "blog worthy." I started a journal (a spiral bound note book, nothing over the top) and I would just add things to an ever growing list of ideas. The down fall to the journal, was that it was very disorganized, and had very random ideas.

Thank goodness motherhood is an endless topic, and with 2 boys under 5, I could write about their crazy make believe or things they say!

What does everyone else do?

i seriously need some sort of system to keep me on track with themes and continuity. lately i just sit down and say, "crap, i need a post for tomorrow... let's see what i've got... some new pictures?"

i have some great ideas for themes, but then again, at this point, with the blog preparing for a big move and change, i feel like i should save up my good stuff for after the launch. maybe that's why i am in a holding pattern. hope it doesn't last too long.

I find inspiration on what to write from things that are happening in my life right now.  My kids also give me good material (though I try not to blog about my teen so I don't embarass him).

If I have writer's block, I have to walk away and do something else for a while.  Then I can come back to my thoughts.

I do Writer's Workshop with Mama Kat's Losin It EVERY week.  It's fun and it causes me to think outside of my usual blogging box!

Most of my inspiration comes from daily life for me too.  Sometimes it's fun to dig into my past to find things to write about to.  Sharing about my first date or learning to drive is a fun way to relive the events and also gain new perspective about things!  Plus, readers seem to love getting to know me outside of my life as a mom!

My inspiration comes from daily life... chats with my girlfriends, the evening news, my facebook stream. Although I try to keep an editorial calendar, sometimes I just get inspired!
