More Beer, More Soda, Less Weight!

Started by Dan , author of Dad Does 8/13/2012 8:18:44 AM

No this is not a commercial for some diet beer or soda, rather a different way to shed pounds....from your backpack.  I came across this -

while reading Gizmodo.  Looks like Pat's Backcountry Beverages is going to release a powdered soda mix and highly concentrate beer mix.  Why lug around the weight of all that water in your soda and beer while hiking and camping?  You get a specially designed bottle that features a pump on the lid for pressurizing its contents, and then to make soda you just mix the soda powder, carbonizing agent and some water and boom - instant soda!

The beer is actually a highly concentrated liquid.  Add some water and instant beer.  You can read all about it on the Pat's Backcountry Beverages site.

So, what do you think?  Good idea?  Would you shed the pounds and try this out?  The key to me is the taste - if it taste like the real thing, sounds like a very cool idea!

I think I am with you Dan.  If it tastes like real soda, I would give it a try.  I love my Coke though.

Dan you are a gadget addict! But I'm curious, where do you get the water? Is there some sort of filtration system that you can use in the bottle?

Also- I don't think soda is the best choice when you are hiking/ backpacking. :)

Hey Happy,

As far as addiction goes, gadgets are not too bad :)

Good question on the water, I don't think it has filtration.  I think the idea is you fill it at a campground or someplace that has drinking water.

You're right, soda is not great for hiking...that is where the beer comes in :)
