Bug Bites? Tape Will Fix It?

Started by Dan , author of Dad Does 6/27/2012 7:35:14 AM

I hate bugs.  I hate bugs.  I HATE BUGS.  Do you know the only thing I hate more than bugs?  Bugs that bite!  We have a great conversation going on about how to keep bugs away, but wanted to talk about a weird tip I just heard for post bug bite...

A friend told me if you put a piece of tape on the bug bite, it cuts off oxygen to the bite and it stops itching very quickly.  Sounds a little strange to me.  Has anyone tried this?  Does it work?  Isn't our blood oxygenated and therefore what does the tape really do?  Anyway, this guy swears by it - just wondering if anyone else has tried this method.

Thanks!

I have never heard of using tape on a bug bite. To relieve the itching from bug bites (red bugs, mosquitoes,etc...), I soak in a warm bath mixed with baking soda.  This is especially helpful when you have a lot of bug bites.

Hmmm. I'm not sure about that one Dan. How about you get some bug bites this weekend and give it a try.

I'll just use bug spray and save the tape for wrapping gifts.

I've never tried tape but I always pack a bottle of Tea Tree Oil when we're camping. It soothes bug bites.
