Sleep in your own damn bed!!

Started by Randi , author of A Lucky Ladybug 8/5/2011 7:08:14 AM

Ok I had to start it off like that....yes, I am one of those parents.  Both of my boys have slept in my bed from day one.  Biggest mistake ever!!  (Somehow I don't regret it though because of how lovey they both are).  Now I cannot get them out for the life of me.  Dane is 3 and Declan is 11 mo.  Dane needs to go now, Declan I could deal with for longer but he should go now or it will be harder in the long run.  He does better though and will sleep in his crib every once in a while.

Any suggestions?  I need help...

Stay in there room with them until they fall asleep, read a book etc and then just sit quietly. It takes a few nights or maybe a week.

I wish my crazy kid will wake up a few hours later and demand to be back in our room....really stinks! lol We have even tried walking him back several times in the night AND staying with him then but once he wakes up he's up and will refuse to even go back to sleep!

I think most of us had to go through this with our kids, i used to put them back in their beds when they fell asleep.  Time goes so quickly though - before you know it they will be grown and you will probably miss those days!

We made pallets of blankets on the floor in the same room. For one we made a 'nest" , a bed on the wall over looking our bed. All of them loved this. As each get bigger and go to to the new room the others follow easier. They want to be BIG like their siblings!

When the room felt/ got crowded we would wait till they were asleep to move them to the other bed and/or room.

Each made it to at least 2 and they return when sick. Nothing like hugging your baby, no matter the age!

My 3 year old didn't start coming to my room until we stayed at Grandma's and we shared a bed.  Now for the last year she wants to have sleepovers all the time. I tell her every night to go to sleep in her room and she ends up in my bed every morning.

I would rather she jumps into bed with me every morning because before she started doing that we had a 4 month period where she would get up and sneak into treats and candy and stuff she was not supposed to be into.
