What is your favorite way to organize coupons?!

Started by Sarah , author of Raining Hot Coupons 7/7/2011 9:01:56 PM

I like to keep my entire inserts and put the whole insert in a protector sheet. I find it's easier to find coupons this way. For example, when I post that a coupon is from "5/10 RP" I can easily find it.

I know a lot of people have different ways so what is your favorite way and what are some quick and easy tips?! enlightened

I forgot to mention that I have a big purse/tote I bought at Target that I use to put my accordian file and it came w/ a padded zippered insert that I use to put all my store circulars in.  I just take it in the stores w/me if I have time to shop/browse otherwise if I'm just in to get what's on list.. I just take in my pencil pouch for that store :)

I too, save the entire inserts and place each page in a protector sheet in a 3-ring binder. I have different sections in this binder for printables, blinkies, and store coupons. I set up a spreadsheet of all my coupons and the locations with expiration dates since I have so many. This has made it easier to keep up with what I have and made it easier to pull the coupons when I find match-ups. This also helps when it comes time to clean out the expired coupons.  I have a smaller seperate binder that I have organized by stores such as CVS, Walgreens, Target, Foodlion, etc. I print out the match-ups and freebies that I am interested in and pull the coupons and place them with the printed list in a protector sheet. I carry this in the car and when I go shopping I can carry in the smaller binder or just pull the sheet and coupons for that store in a flash. I am new to this and still learning but it seems to be getting easier for me this way.

I have been couponing for about 5 years now. I cut all of my coupons on sunday and monday, then put them into 2 very detailed binders. One binder is food only with 16 catagories, the other is non food with 16 catagories...I also have another smaller binder that I keep policys in and misc store only coupons.

i take my binder w/me everywhere because like Mary said you never know when you can purchase something on clearance for yourself or a family member. My walgreens is remodeling and had a 75% off sale. I got 10 hair dyes(for my mom), multiple medicine items (for myself and family) and others items for just pennies or FREE!!!

Ditto everything Jessica said. I have my binder categorized by the store layout. What I'm trying to figure out now is how to organize the coupons within each section. I'm starting to run out of space too!

I am a combination organizer.  I go through my inserts and cut out the coupons I am likely to use and organize them into a sweet double-three-ring zip-up binder.  I take that with me whenever I shop.  I then file the rest of my inserts away into a standard three-ring binder.

All my SS pages or P&G for one week go in one page protector and then I make a cover that has every coupon that in that pouch listed.  Every week I can take a marker and mark through the expired/used coupons and clean the pouch out if necessary.  Then in the back I have homemade coupon page protectors.  This way I NEVER have to fold a coupon and I can have 6 coupons per sheet.  This is where I put all my RP, printable, blinkies. The back is by sections but not sure how many since i make my own labels for sections.  I take my binder everytime, and have scissors in a pouch to cut out any coupons that I may need.

I have a small organizer, clip the ones I think I will use and save the inserts at home.  But plenty of times I see something on clearance, know that I saw the coupon, but don't have it with me.  Arghh!  I think I should try the 3 ring binder idea.

Simple binder and baseball card sleeves, organized right away. Tried the Ziploc baggie and the box, but would lose both of them in my house. I like mine clipped and ready to go at a moment's notice. My kids are embarrassed about carrying the binder into the store, most clerks that see me carrying it have that "aha" look on their face, but it's almost like carrying a purse to me...essential. wink

I now use my binder I won from RHC and organized all cut coupons in different categories but still keep some inserts in the binder also.(just a few as I cut most out) I figure I will not use them at the time of a shopping trip, but, just in case, have them with me..Got my scissors, calculator and pen in there also and I do not care what other people think when I walk in the store with it, after all, am saving the money, they don't:)
