We all thought to believe that writing fiction is for an entertainment and writing non-fiction is for an education.

However, we often coming across some fiction books which are more relevant to real life education and non-fiction books which are more entartaining than educational.

Therefore, the question is: " Why we need both?" What makes both categories closely interrelated and desirable for all of us; the writers and the readers?

Hi , Teresa!

Generally, you are absolutely right in your defenition about fiction and non-fiction and yes, we need them both.

I would go even further to say that right now we have a strong trend where non-fiction is outselling fiction titles. Why?

The major factor is a hunger for real knowledge and the ability and opportunity to have it fast - just click.

The overall effect of such developing and evolving trend reflecting new conclusions by market watchers: " More fiction publications are released every year that create a blend between the real and imaginary. Even now, authors whose fiction works, based on true events are being morphed and translated into non-fiction accounts." ( http://www.buzzle.com/articles/the-non-fiction-effect-on-how-we-read.html ). My warmest regards, Elena Ornig
