Getting a glitch

Started by Melinda 1/30/2012 5:05:34 PM

I'm having an issue, and I feel like I have searched the heck out of it without finding a solution. Sometimes, when I fill shapes with paper it goes in tiled. When this happens I can't do anything else, if I click on it to edit it, it brings up the dimensions in the little box like it does for embellishments. What am I doing/not doing?

Not sure what you mean by tiled, but when you fill the shapes with papers, sometimes using the zoom tool, this will pop up in the same box as the dimensions box, and you can adjust the paper size so that you can zoom into the paper and see the pattern better.  Does this make sense?

Hi Melinda - I'm with Kat, not sure exactly what's happening with your shapes.  If you can send me an email with a screenshot of what kind of look you are getting, I will see if I can help!

I can e-mail this as well, but this is what is happening to my shapes. They get filled up with little tiles of whatever paper I choose, and I can't zoom in or anything.

When I tried what you were saying, ScrapKat, I did finally get an error message that said something about Java. I'm going to try some updates.

OMG . . . I have been having the SAME PROBLEM and it just started today!!!!!  I have spent the past hour trying to fix and adjust one piece of paper so that it comes in and just fills the page, or shape, that I am trying to place it in.

To the other ladies . . . think about when you go to set your desktop bacground image, and it will ask you if you want it to fit to screen or to be tiled . . . tiled is SEVERAL small images over and over like a patchwork quilt.

Melinda . . . if you find the fix PLEASE let me know!  I am trying to finish a hockey scrapbook and I only have a few pages left and I seriously wasted at least an hour trying to make this work.

I don't know if I have found the "fix" or not, but I did discover that I can almost make it work by putting the paper in the shape before enlarging it. So when you add the shape to the page, immediately fill it with paper, THEN drag it to be as big as you want it and you can get the zoom tool to pop up correctly. However, I couldn't get it to go to full page size without it saying the image would pixelate when printed.

Melinda . . . I just tried that and it didn't work for me, but if I added a Photo Box instead of a shape and filled THAT with the paper then it worked.

I sent an email to their support people.  I wanted to ask you, were you using a paper from MMS, or were you using a paper from another company?  For me, I was using a paper from a different company since I could not find an good "realistic" hockey papers in the MMS store.  (note to designers . . . might want to make some realistic hockey kits . . . the ones with the teddy bears and "cute" stuff is only good until they are about 6 years old, and then they want REAL looking pucks, sticks, nets, players, etc.)

I was using MMS Papers, so that isn't the issue, unfortunately. It would be fairly easy to avoid. Today I used MMS and had no problems though. It's weird.

Mine is still doing it today, but only with SOME papers . . . of course I don't know which ones until I get the paper into the scrapbook.  My "fix" for now is to pick a different paper . . . I only have 3 more pages to do and this book is done!

Melinda . . . just heard back from support

This was their answer . . .

This happens because the image is of low resolution. If the image is of low resolution, the software will automatically tile it. You will need to find a higher resolution version of this image if you would like to use it without the software tiling it.

I just had this problem for the first time today and I hate to say it, but support is wrong.  I know that the paper that I used was 300 dpi and 12"x12" because I made it myself (I'm one of the designers at MM).  I even double checked and I'm correct.  So it's not always that the image is low resolution.  The paper that I was trying to use was just over 4 MB -- that's not a low resolution image at all!

Did anyone else get another answer that might solve my problem?
