Would you be happy with a pre-owned wedding ring?

Just curious.

Because I am.

We were married last October, and found the perfect ring.  It's vintage and artsy and retro and totally ME!

I would actually prefer an antique ring, personally.  It would just suit my style better than something new.  Old rings have a lot more character.  I like the idea of wearing something with history, that has seen other time periods and travelled around with other people.  Hey, and it's totally hip to recycle!  Diamonds and precious metals, and the acquisition of them, are so controversial these days.  I have a hard time wearing something that people died for or were enslaved to mine.  It's good not to contribute to demand for more of those raw materials.

I have a used ring and I LOVE IT!  My husband wanted to get me the most beautiful ring but could not afford it.  He found a ring that is absolutely gorgeous and worth way more than he paid for it.  So now I'm wearing a ring on my finger that I never thought would be possible and which is worth 5 times more than he paid.  I say my I married a man that can spot a good deal and is great with his money.  I do not believe that the ring will be responsible for the outcome of my marriage, my husband and I make the marriage what it is.....but I have one heck of a nice ring on my finger and we're not in debt because of it.  Awesome. ~Cheryl :)

I love that ring!!

When we got married last Oct. I got a "new to me" ring as well. Similar in style to yours. I'm thrilled with it. When we started looking for rings I never wanted a brand new "______ jewelery store" ring. I wanted something older, 40's or earlier.

We are not a normal couple, so no reason the ring should be cookie cutter.

You girls are my kind of girls!

Nina, your ring is gorgeous. One of the most beautiful rings I've ever seen. I've never been very big on jewelry. My own wedding ring is very modest, and I wouldn't have it any other way. But I DO love vintage jewelry. And I would be gloriously happy with a pre-owned ring, especially one as beautiful as yours!

That ring is gorgeous!  I think it would depend on the situation....  Like you said, I'd want it to have been worn by someone in a happy relationship - maybe she got a new ring as a 50th anniversary gift...  But really, more importantly than the ring and where it comes from  is the love you two have for one another.

The ring is beautiful. If you like and are in love that is all that matters.

Depends on where it came from.  From a mother-in-law?  No.  Too much pressure. Also, I'd be weirded out.  From a stranger.  Certainly.  Sounds odd, right?  That ring IS gorgeous, by the way.

It depends on if the MIL's marriage was happy or not  ;)
