Do you keep your home beautifully decorated?

Started by Esther , author of Laugh With Us Blog 8/9/2011 4:43:50 PM

I do not.  It would be nice, but my husband considers things for the wall or for decoration to be a waste of money and we moved around so much that every time I got a house looking like I wanted then we would move and the same things don't always work in a new place.  People come to visit me and ask, "So how long have you lived here?"
since so many of the walls are empty.  :)

Define beautifully!  LOL  I have all sorts of things on my walls, but we plan on staying here for a while.  If we were in a situation that required moving every year or so I wouldn't bother.  But I do think that walls with nothing on them look a little lonely :)

I suppose my walls do look lonely.  I like to say they leave more to the imagination!  lol

I have no idea -- some parts of my home are beautifully decorated... much of it is not. And we've been here 10 years! Something to do with commitment issues on my part. What's my style??? Anyone want to come help?

Even though I have moved 5 times in the last 7 years...yes I have to decorate my house no matter where I live. I consider my home to be my getaway, my place to relax , so I surround myself with things I love. So yes it's always decorated, I change it acorrding to hoildays and seasons. Call me crazy...but its who I am....

I don't think I'd describe my decor as "beautiful", it's way to practical.  Maybe "cutely decorated" or "eclectically decorated" would be a better way to describe it?  A lot of the stuff I decorate with are quirky found objects and upcycled items.  Flea market and antique store chic.

I've been in this house for a year, but the garden has been my main priority so far.  I have some ideas brewing for the interior though...

I'd say YES. I worked for an upscale interior designer years ago and his talents and tastes really rubbed off on me.  Yay me! I will say though, I am fortunate to be content with pretty much the original decorating job we did.  Still love our paint colors, the stuff on the walls, the furniture, etc..  My kids' friends LOVE our house.  Think it's very cool.  Now, keeping it spic and span, magazine tidy?  That almost NEVER happens. Except for this week. A missionary family of five is coming to stay five days.  I have been cleaning my fool head off for two weeks now!!! Perish the thought that they see a dust bunny or grimy finger print.

One more thing. A piece of advice actually.  If you have young kids, don't buy white anything.  Or light colors either.  I'm talking towels in the bathroom, towels in the kitchen, sheets, upholstery, etc..  The darker the color, the less it shows dirt.
