Still Competing for Mama (afterthoughts from the blog)

Started by Clayton , author of Home of Tantrums, Troubles, and Treasures | Helping Great Parents Become Even Be 1/26/2011 2:47:46 PM

The blog has had some great comments.  What I've found though are that there a lot of homes like mine.  If you haven't seen the blog, it's worth a read.  One thing I didn't talk about is moms getting out, letting dads or a babysitter take over, and giving yourself some "me" time.  Manicures, pedicures, or a weekend getaway with the girls are some ideas.  Also, if the man of the house is in the same situation, allowing him to get out occasionally is a great idea as well.  It takes teamwork and is really worth it.

I'm a big advocate for teamwork as well (in fact I've got a big piece I did for multiplesandmore.blogspot.com that is posting in the next few weeks regarding this very topic).  There are too many dads out there who don't see themselves as an equal partner in the process.  My wife teaches yoga at nights so I tend to get the evening shift (she's a stay at home during the day) and that's more than fair.  If she can do it, I can do it - I should WANT to do it as well.  I like to say that parenting these days is a team sport; no longer the indivdual athlete and the cheerleader/spectator of decades past.

Obviously, this is a family site for parents. I'd rather not have product reviews, profanity, or propane (ok, I made the last one up) Let's keep it civil and have some fun.
