Can I vent?

Started by Karen , author of Family Travels on a Budget 2/15/2012 11:41:19 AM

I hope you said yes... you're reading this :)

Our heat pump isn't working right... actually, with a two story house in the south, we have two heat pumps. Neither is working right. Sigh. It comes with the territory -- builder grade materials wear out. I get that.

What I'm upset about is we had a service guy come out to fix it last month and he rigged some things... which drove our electric bill to run double.... and now, it turns out he completely missed two things that were wrong! GRRRRRR!!!!

So, giant electric bill, which will probably repeat this month, plus bogus service charge fees, plus new service charge fees, plus replacing one unit = NOT what I want to do with $6000!!!!

I am, however, quite thankful that we have a financial plan that includes an emergency fund, that we live in the south and are having a mild winter (these 60 degree days do help!) and that we have gas log fireplaces to warm us when needed.

Hopefully by this time next week, my house will be toasty warm and efficient! Thanks to a service company that has integrity (BTW, the first one came recommended and I checked BBB before calling.... that doesn't catch it all.)

OKAY -- done now. Thanks for listening.

How about sharing a HAPPY ENDING STORY to cheer me up? :)

So sorry to hear of all your trouble.  I know it has to be very frustrating.

Wish I had a happy ending story to share - I've been fighting a never ending headache, and I'm not thinking too clearly right now.

I'll accept commiserating! :) Especially from you. I hope your headache clears up.

After I posted, the mail came. The electric bill is even higher than I expected.

The company that messed up is sending a manager to look at everything tomorrow. AND he said if they messed up, they will help with the electric bill and service charges. IF they actually do, I'll let everyone know my happy ending story. :)

Thanking God for a fireplace today!!!!

Karen,

My mom in Mobile is facing similar disasters with her house, elevated energy bills due to repairs, etc., and the frustration of things not going right.  She did have a vendor say, as did yours, that if their work contributed to the elevated bills, they would pay them.  Amen.

You will get through it all, it will get better, and it could be worse.  Thank God for emergency funds, cooperative vendors, and a mild winter (and us to vent to...) of, and faith.

A happy ending story? What about the time my dog ate Christmas present?

OneMommy-praying the headache leaves soon.  Sending prayers and healing hugs...

Luckily it's been warmer up north too. Our furnace died a few weeks ago and of course we weren't expecting it. Do bad things ever happen when you do expect them? I'm new to blog frog but working my thru. Have a good night.

Oh, how I can relate!  But thank God you have reserves.  That, it itself, is a HUGE blessing!

This will exhaust the reserves. We had two car accidents last year (first of 21 married years) and our house got struck by lightning last fall. We are as done as done can be with the emergencies!!!! Praying God gives us a year to rebuild the reserve.
