Anyone want to partner up and blog together this month?

Started by Amanda , author of The Educators' Spin On It 12/30/2011 1:43:14 PM

I am reading the book

and would like to include my take on it and what I will do at home to impliment the ideas from the author Dr. J. Richard Gentry.  As different spins on teaching and learning reading makes for a better learning environement, I was wondering if anyone here who has a blog and blogs about teaching reading would like to do a "read-along" or professional book study.  I am thinking of making it once a week for the month.  We would need to agree on what should be read / blogged about each week.  Then, on the blog, we would list other participants by blog name and link back to their blog. Please comment under this discussion if you are intersted and provide your e-mail or send me an e-mail at theeducatorsspinonit at gmail.com (use the sign, not the spelling of at) and we will form a group =)

I'm interested Amanda. My kids are all older than 7 years old, but I blog about reading.

I own this book and have skimmed through it more than once. Let me know your weekly focus. I should be able to read and create a post. It should be fun. I'll do my best.

How is it going with this? Have you found other bloggers? I might be more interested in doing a review of the entire book in one post at the end of the month and add links to all of your posts about the book in my one post.

Does this interest you?

Michelle - I haven't had any other takers, but some of my mom friends will be reading along with us.  I just wanted to put it out there as I know having your url on others blogs gives you higher ranking and I would love to help others too.  I've had the book for a while and it is very good, but very academic in reading.  I love your idea of that and would be more than willing to send our readers your way!  Anything to share the love of reading with others!!! If anyone else wants to join, just let me know!!

Great! I'll be reading the book more in depth. Could you share a link to each weekly post in this discussion or start a new one with the book title in it? I think posting links here helps search engine opt too. Maybe others will chime in here as well. Who knows maybe Richard Gentry will stop by. He is in some LinkedIn groups where I belong. He's in Emergent Literacy and International Reading Association.

I'm looking forward to your posts about Raising Confident Readers. I'll plan to do one post and include links to yours when I post.

Hi Amanda,

This all looks very interesting! My huge passion in life is developing passionate readers and using everyday life to do this. For the past few years I've been running workshops for moms while writing for our newspaper on parenting and reading. I have my site www.susa-parentcenter.com but found it was getting too complex so have moved over to blogging. Our site is www.castleforkeeps.com it doesn't yet have all my early reading content moved over but we getting there... I'd really enjoy being a part of a group discussing developing passionate readers.

Sounds great - we'd love to have you blog with us and / or comment here!  Just let me know what you are up for!  I will be including links to sites that are blogging, so let me know.  =) My first post on the intro will be up by next week!

Hi,

Just found your blog and am now a follower. I would be interested in partnering later in the year. This winter I am very busy, with my fulltime work and some other commitments, but say in March?

Sounds great to me - thanks for joining our site!  The more the merrier!!!  I'm up for book suggestions too.  I read TONS of kids and professional books.  Michelle suggested a comprehension one earlier - what was the name of it again? - that sounded interesting!

The comprehension book I suggested earlier is 7 Keys to Comprehension by Susan Zimmermann and Chryse Hutchins. You are so good to keep everything straight! I can't wait to read your first post about Raising Confident Readers.
