Chest Freezer Dividers - what do you use?

Started by Caren , author of Couponing Coterie 12/2/2011 11:41:46 PM

Help! My chest freezer is out of control. I need dividers (or something!) to section/organize this beast. Please share what you use to divide and conquer your chest freezer!

Milk Crates would work great!  They can hold things, but also have holes to help circulate the air.  We have also used just plastic tubs to sort stuff.  Like we have a red tub for beef, a blue for poultry and a green for misc., meats.  The we have one that has frozen veggies and one with frozen fruit, everything else, like pizza and snacks usually just get stacked together.  I usually end up having to reorganize every few months because I forget about what all I have, so I stop shopping as much and try to eat off our stockpile about once a month to keep stuff from expiring, etc.  Hope this helps.

We also use the milk crates, the only thing different is I use a standup bag to hold my bags of veggies and fruits.  I can only fit so many crates in there and this filled a small space quite well.  Remember when you add items to put them at the bottom of each pile so what is oldest and needs to be used first stays on top.  Good luck!

We put things like our home made pasta sauce (also used for making pizza etc)and ground beef (we make our own ground beef too) in freezer bags, and make them flat. I freeze them in my little freezer, and bring it the next day to my other freezer, but now I can stack em neatly, or put em in there like books on a shelf :) I do not put anything in there that I bought in family pack sizes, first I divide it in portions of two and three, so i can mix and match for my Family.
