Started by Alyssa , author of Kingdom First Mom — Balancing Faith, Family and Frugality 10/12/2010 10:56:36 AM

The verse we chose for the challenge is Acts 20:35~

"In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

Share your favorite verse about giving! There are lots! :)

Matthew 10 - 8, 42

"And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."

There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want. The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.

Proverbs 11:24-25

Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

So many great verses! Here's another one:

"In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Love all of these.  Thanks for the inspiration.

One of my favorites is this:

gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great. Proverbs 18:16

I blogged about the word "gift" in Scripture last Wednesday.  You can read more here.

But when you give to someone in need, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.

Matthew 6:3 NLT
