Where do you take your car?

Started by Molly , author of The Snyder 5 10/26/2010 8:50:33 AM

Okay so my car died this morning.  Yes, my 2006 car with 40,000 miles that I have already put at least $6,000 into for repairs.  That car.

I hate cars.  And hate feeling like I am getting taken every time I have to take mine in.

So where do you take your cars for repairs.  Any good tips (or horror stories)?

For body work, nothing beats Raymond Auto Body on Pierce Butler in St. Paul. And I know this because they have my beloved Audi right now.

I have a foreign car, so I take it to Auto Edge in Mahtomedi because that's all they service.

For domestic cars, Mike recommends Baber Auto, on Larpenteur and Hamline, behind the Tires Plus. Good people, straight forward.

We take our cars to RD's on Rice and Cottage in St. Paul even though it's a bit of a drive. I know I can trust them so it's worth it. And I can walk over to my parents' house to wait while they're doing the repairs. :)

Yuck. I so do not deal with this kind of thing. My husband always has a "friend" who can do it whereas I'd prefer to just take it to the professionals and get ripped off. ;)

Good to know, thanks to both of you.  I happened to break down right by Lloyd's on Grand Avenue, and have been thoroughly impressed by them so far.

I still hate cars.  But I like the people.

I'm not sure how much they can do...for ya know...cars that die long before their time...but I whole heartedly and completely recommend the guys at the Burnsville Midas...I was just there today for what I thought would be a brake replacement - they told me I have a good 6-12 months left on these and I can most certainly wait...

I think a lot of places would have sold me new brakes...We've been taking all 3 of our cars there for years and are always VERY impressed with our engine service, brakes issues and oil changes!
