How much are you running in the "off" season?

Now that Georgetown is over, running season is slowing down for me. My body is ready for a break.  So I've cut my running back to two days a week for the next little while.  I'm excited to cross train--do lots of strength, flexibility and core work, so that when it comes time to gear up for So Cal my body is stronger, and more limber than ever.

So, what is everyone else doing?  Keeping up the same amount of miles, or cutting back for a little bit?

What do you think the pros and cons are?  Pros for me include--not getting bored with the same routine, being about to really run my best because I'm only doing it twice a week, and to take time to develop strengths in other areas.

Cons for me are--being afraid I'll lose the "speed" (it's a relative term) that I've gained this season.  But, actually I'm hoping my speed will actually improve, as I try to develop more core strength, and really have a purpose behind each run I do.

We've talked about this a couple of times... but I'm doing something kind of similar to you.  I am going to keep running 2-3 days a week, but do mostly intervals and tempo runs with an occasional long run.  I too want to get stronger this winter.  I am hoping to find some good strength training classes at the sorry excuse for a gym I go to  (it's cheap).

I think the change in pace will be good for me.  I also believe that strength traning will help prevent future injuries.
