Theology: What is its place in the average believer's day-to-day life?

Started by widsith , author of WIDSITH 7/22/2010 3:34:17 PM

Have you heard as many different opinions on this as I have? I'm confused by the confusion among believers.

Some of us hold on to theology as the only way to avoid rabbit trails and disasterous detours in the Christian life.

Others of us hate the practice and even the word 'theology', because of its reputation of leading to arguments, hair-splitting and legalistic authoritarianism in our churches.

Sure, we all believe it's good to read the Bible, but there seems to be a canyon between Christians who study it deeply and Christians who take it at face value or even insert our own meaning to it.

I'd love to hear your take on this!

Discussion is good! Heated debates aren't. We may feel strongly about our beliefs, so let's respect each others' convictions too. If you disagree with someone, please disagree with grace and courtesy. If you agree with someone, fantastic! Either way, let's keep this a fun and stimulating place to explore ideas from new perspectives. :)
