The key to building influnce in your community is getting involved.  Simply launching a blog or a forum isn’t enough.  You need to participate in the conversion.  If you’ve already identified the people influencing market dialog, comment on their blog, attend their events, place them in your blogroll.  

Write posts that trackback to their blog if they allow it.  Engage and challenge them on a topic that matters.  Go forward and get in the mix.  Don’t wait for it to come to you.  To be successful, you need to engage and engage and engage, continually developing relationships.
