Summer Family Fun with a Family Friendly Movie Night

Started by Jennifer , author of Double Duty Mommy 7/31/2012 6:00:10 AM

The end of summer is just around the corner so I went for a family movie that would keep my girls both entertained but had meaning behind it.

I found Dolphin Tale on the list of Redbox's Family Fun Official Movie List and I knew it was the one. We never saw it before because honestly I knew it was a sad movie so I didn't know how my daughter would take to it.

Inspired by the true story of a brave dolphin and the compassionate strangers who banded together to save her life. Swimming free, a young dolphin is caught in a crab trap, severely damaging her tail. She is rescued and transported to the Clearwater Marine Hospital, where she is named Winter. But her fight for survival has just begun.

Without a tail, Winter's prognosis is dire. It will take the expertise of a dedicated marine biologist, the ingenuity of a brilliant prosthetics doctor, and the unwavering devotion of a young boy to bring about a groundbreaking miracle-a miracle that might not only save Winter but could also help scores of people around the world.

My 7 year old and I loved the movie and yes, I did cry a few times through-out the movie. I don't want to ruin anything for you if you haven't seen it but if you want a great movie that has heart this is a great one to watch.

Jake has been watching a lot of 90s movies like Friday this summer, lol.

Madagascar 3, was my son's favorite this summer!

The Avengers by a long shot.

I think my daughter's favorite has been Brave.

We haven't watched a lot of new movies this summer. We did watch Puss 'n Boots and The Muppets on DVD, though.
