Why did you start blogging?

Started by The Lady Bloggers Society , author of The Lady Bloggers Society — 8/8/2011 10:23:42 AM

I thought it would be interesting to start a BlogFrog discussion and here about why you started blogging?

1. Why did you start blogging?

2. Has that reason changed?

I started blogging after I got married. I originally focused on cooking and recipes, but as the summer hit and I was cooking less and less, my posts are began to become far and few between. (and few on cooking) Hopefully once the nice weather months pass I will pick up more on cooking again.

I started blogging after spending months reading other blogs and deciding that it was the outlet i was looking for, not just for my creative side but just as a way to put my thoughts out there regardless of what i'm talking about. also i had read some blogs and found them boring especially when talking about makeup. I like to read stuff that has a personality behind it and therefore try to keep my posts fresh

I started blogging initially to share what I was learning in my walk with God. Then I started following other blogs and saw all of the fun posts that they posted. So I started a second blog just for fun and I share recipes, document fun, exciting things in my life, and most recently I have been talking about my pregnancy!

I started blogging because I wanted to get published and was finding it close to impossible. I discovered-- if I blogged, people would read. But, almost 4 months in now, my reasons have changed. Now I'm more interested in sharing the recipes and 'living green ideas' that I'm writing about and learning from others who are interested in those things too. My gosh, I'm learning so much. The exchange of ideas has been beyond amazing.

I started blogging w/o a blog way back in 1999. I had been sending inspirational e-mails to friends. I called these Lunchbox Notes. After a while I thought they would make for a good base for a website. I'd always wanted to write and this was a way for me to write and share.

I don't think my reason has changed but I think my topics have changed. My site has existed in several incarnations over the years and I've branched out to write about politics and pop culture and anything else that pops into my mind. I'm currently chronicling my journey through my right with cancer.

When my best friend moved to the other side of the country and our day to day experiences became too much to share in a single telephone or skype conversation we thought about blogging.

When she was on the west coast collecting swag for the both of us and I realized I had been conversing with an impostor on the east coast we thought about blogging.

When our friends kept saying you two should start a blog we thought about blogging.

When I called her and bemoaned the fact that my life was so SHITTY FABULOUS and she replied, "mine is too," the title of our blog was born and we began.

That was more than a year ago.  Our blog is constantly expanding.  We continue to share our personal journeys toward truly living out front, our random ideas/finds and our relentless celebration of friendship, life, growth and change.  www.mindogandmetch.com

Initially about 3 or 4 years ago I started blogging so that I could expand my view of people. I was surrounded all day everyday by my christian friends and students and I knew that my world view was becoming way too narrow. It has been wonderful and beautifully eye opening! I started my second blog, recoveringchurchlady.com, because I have a book idea and it is helping me get there! Thanx for asking!

I started blogging as I was an avid reader of many blogs before for around 2 years, and after being completely inspired by them all I plucked up the courage to try is myself. I am still new to it all, but enjoying it thoroughly. And no, my reason hasn't changed! I am still completely inspired by all those who paved the way before me :) I love meeting new blogger friends, so please stop by and say hi! Niki @ LQM&M xo

I started blogging as a last ditch effort to finally lose the weight I had been regaining and losing and regaining over the years. I knew very little about blogging, read none, but thought I might find some personal accountability and motivation. That reasoning still stands. But I also now blog because I love it. And I love the amazing community I've found. I had no expectations but I am sure it would have exceeded every one!

I've been blogging since 2002 (Live Journal, then blogger & now WP) I started it to keep my family informed about our lives when my oldest was born. I've always kept a diary of some sort. My blog is just latest incarnation. I blog to tell my stories & connect with others. Always have.
