Bribery, bribery, bribery and oh wait! More bribery!! :)

I wonder this too. My kids are pretty good eaters and not terribly picky but they're not fine dining or gourmet either. I wonder when and if that will change?

I adopt the policy of keeping a healthy food household. Outside or in someone else's home, they make their own choices. I hope they will be healthy ones but, you know, they're kids. We talk about their choices and the consequences.

I put out raw veggie that I want my son to try out while I am fixing dinner. My son will "snack" on them while I cook.

I take her to the grocery store and the farmers market, we talk about how things might be healthy for you. I keep offering items, even if she says no and we talk about saying, "No Thank You" instead of "yuck". We also have 'consequences' if you choose to have one thing for breakfast, your choices are more limited at lunch.

My kids are really odd... they like healthy things that other kids might not like. Risotto is one of them! If it's something new or something that they think they won't like I encourage them to try at least one bite of it. That way they'll know for sure if they really don't like it.

All moms with picky kids will hate me. My son eats just about anything. And he'll try anything. Sure, there's a few things he doesn't like - bell peppers for one. But considering he eats brussel sprouts and broccoli and sauteed chard, will I fight about peppers? No way. Anyway, we just always tried not to make food a fight. Sure there were years I worried whether a child could actually survive on plain noodles and cubed cantaloupe alone, but it passed. We talk about food all the time - not just to him, but in our house. Where it's from, how it's grown, what the best choices are. What's wrong with the bad choices. It's just part of our lifestyle. Somehow he has grown willing to try, willing to taste and liking lots of it! (including sushi!)
