Good luck with that. I'll be back from my unplanned business trip in a few weeks. I'm just kidding. We'll get through it. We all managed to get potty trained when we were kids, right? God knows my parents (both were only children) were no experts. :)

Good luck, you guys!  Here are some of the things that I learned when I was potty training my boys:

1.  They generally have an easier time urinating in the potty than defecating so it is important to have patience with them if they don't want to do the latter in the potty right away.

2.  Pull ups are your best friend, especially at night when your child is not fully trained yet.

3.  Put baby on the potty after eating because that is normally when they have to go.

4.  Lastly, may the force be with both of you. ;)

I just announced on fb that my daughter poo'd in the potty. Big news for sure. I think that cloth diapering and now the cloth pull ups have helped big time. I think that is my only tip. My son who I quit cloth diapering at 12mo would have nothing to do with it until he was around 2 and a half and he was "potty" trained over night. Took him a while to get the poo part figured out. But still quit the diapers in a weekend. No iniative on our part. My daughter on the other hand is going to be 2 in a month and has decided it is time to use the potty. I don't think she is actually ready, but she thinks she is so we are going with it. Actually my real tip is if they are not ready give it another month. That can be the most frustrating part. Good luck, it is a messy albeit rewarding task. :)

Oh my dear...I wish you the best of luck. We had SUCH a hard time with our little guy, but the accidents are few and far between these days. All the advice I can offer is to remember this: "This too shall pass"

PS - I hope the pull ups work for you, but I had no luck until we just took the plunge and switched to underwear. Gross, but effective....

JDaniel has announced he only uses diapers. I wish you much luck and pray JDaniel decides to learn by the time he is three.

Here's a quick summary of a book that I read when I was potty training my daughter. Good Luck! http://secretsofmom.blogspot.com/2010/05/book-review-potty-train-your-child-in.html

You are going to chuck the diapers?!? Awesome! That is brave! We are beginning to potty-train again (after forcing a regression while we moved and PT'ing was inconvienet). Quirky kiddo A is rebelling at the idea but we are hoping she'll get used to it soon :) Anyhoo, we are commiserating with you! Go to the pet isle and get their carpet deoderizer - you'll need it :)

GOOD LUCK!

I've been thinking about starting soon with my two year old son. I've got some pressure from my mother-in-law, which just makes me want to put it off. We'll see!

Sending lots of prayers your way!
