First twitter and now facebook! I'm on a roll!! =)

So how do you use your facebook page to help your blog? Do you put your posts on your facebook page? Do you offer additional material on your page? Discuss ideas?

I just post a link to my blog when I have a new post. Then I "share" it with my personal page because not everyone has fanned my blog page.

I suppose if I pushed it more, more people would, though.

I recently created a facebook page for my brand of Jewelry - Gorgeous Karma. I post my blog links on my facebook page. But my blog is not about jewelry in any way. It's about natural health, travel, art and craft for kids. Well, this may sound weird that my business is about one thing and the blog about another. But, I really wanted to write about things that I am passionate about and impacts peoples' lives in a much much bigger way. I only place my jewelry pictures as a column on my blog so that people will see it when they come to read.

Going back to the Facebook page, besides posting the blog post links, I also share twitter-like brief info - for example - 'pic of the day' or a tip on natural health etc.

I don't usually share the blog post link with my facebook friends because they may feel spammed.

One thing that I recently found out was to become a fan of a related company or organization (for example - the flickr facebook page if you're into photography or the etsy page if you are into handmade stuff, and then, from your facebook page, you can leave a comment or review beginning with @thatcompanyname. (for exp: @Etsy). This will create a link to Etsy on your page. And will your feed will show up on the Etsy page with your FB page profile photo. Since Etsy has quite a fan following, when people see your link and some relevant comment, they may want to check out your page and become your fan.

Also, if the company sees that it's getting good traffic from your page, it may at some point in time, link back to your page. But then, never overdo it, or they may block you for spamming.

Some other things are to create an "event' page for your facebook page. An event may be a tangible event or it may even be "launch of my facebook page" and share it with all your friends. The event page should have a link back to your main facebook page.

And then, place a facebook 'like' button on the main page of your blog and on every post page.

I hope these may be of some help. I would love to hear other ideas from you all. BTW, here's my facebook page that you can become fan of :)

See, I post it once a day and leave it at that. I don't feel like that's spamming or annoying. Just letting people know it's there if they want to read it. One little post of my blog is far less than the 1,000 pointless status updates from some of my friends about every time they go to the bathroom or whatever! lol

I wouldn't post it over and over or post it on individual walls or anything.

I never started a facebook page for my blog but I do share my blog on my personal page when I have a good post I want to share.

I created a facebook fan page. I have my networked blogs connected so it automatically feeds my newest posts to my page. I added a facebook link to my blog. I'm really starting to pick up momentum with my fan page recently. I've gained new readers but am having a difficult time getting anyone to post on my wall. I would love to see more input from my readers instead of just me.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Here's my facebook fan page link

Renee,

yeah, your point is right. Sharing with friends on personal page is harmless. It's nothing like people sharing every tiny bit ("going to bathroom") as status updates which is so irritating. I guess, I can do it too without feeling like I am spamming them.....

I love your question, Nicole! Here's how I use FB to help my blog.

  • I created a personal account and a business account.  There are some things that do not to be shared with either or (silly friend pictures with business or networking tips with family and friends).  This way, I can still keep in communication with friends and leave business with business.
  • I also have a fan page and a group page where I can message my fans and followers, updating when I added a new post asking them to comment, share and rate (if a video is included).  I don't feel I have to send something EVERY SINGLE DAY, as it gets annoying.
  • I comment on other peoples posts, links and blogs in order to create a back link to my blog.
  • My blog is linked to other networks and social media outlets so that also helps with traffic flow.
  • Know your niche and the people you want to attract. Join a group and engage in conversation with them, leaving a link to your blog if it relates to what you're discussing.

Have an awesome day and look forward to connecting with you all! :-D

The way I think about it is that not everyone I am friends with blogs, reads blogs or even knows about blogs.  But they might be on facebook or twitter.  I link my blog posts to both my fan page and personal page, I use Networked Blogs on facebook and post additional interesting updates (contests, giveaways and videos) to both the fan page and personal page.

My blog is very personal so there is no separation between business and personal life.  I love it when family stops by the blog because they saw something about it on Facebook.

The more I am "out there" the more people find me!

when i first set mine up, i invited most of my FB friends.  but i just asked once.  i didn't want to see spammy or obnoxious.

what i ended up doing was only publishing posts that would be of interest to those people, to my fan page.  so then i quit publishing post through my fan page and now i just link up my post, if i'm going to share it that day, on my regular page.

As most people have noted, I simply note my posts as a status update on my blog fan page (not personal page).  This drives a small amount of traffic to my blog, but not a huge amount.  I do think some people prefer to see the post on FB, though, opposed to receiving it via email or reader.  It's simply another option of delivery in my opinion.
