So Good, So Sweet Story

Started by Quirky Momma , author of quirkymomma.com 4/16/2012 11:00:10 PM

I love quiet days...

Like the one my family spent next to a mountain stream.

We were there on vacation with cousins and grandparents.

It started as trail exploration next to a playground and ended as an entire afternoon spent under a tree canopy devoted to water diversion.

The cousins worked together to make twig dams and dig out valleys to fill with water.

River stones and pointed sticks became construction tools.

Plans were carefully sketched amid the pine needles.

The project took several hours.  A small portion of the mountain stream had been diverted around a large stone.

It is a task that likely went unnoticed, except for those who hold it as a major accomplishment.

We went back last year to see if the water was still following the new path.  I couldn't tell, but the kids were positive that they had changed the course of stream history.

I love that my daughter is now 3 1/2 but we still have the video monitor in her room. I get to see and hear unexpected conversations with Pooh Bear when my daughter wakes up, or her singing herself to sleep. The other day she spent 20 minutes making silly faces to entertain herself in bed!

Love it!

We enjoy making memory jars too. Somehow a Mason Jar makes a very neat display of every day objects. Thanks for linking to Kids Get Crafty! ~Alissa and Magggy

Love that post Stacy!  I like having the time to photograph the kids and nature without them noticing too.  Your pics are great!

Our favorite moments these days have been a lot like yours actually -- maybe I need to get us a few jars http://kidsstuffworld.com/2012/04/found-things/

We had an awesome unexpected moment yesterday. My son was looking through our photo bin (huge rubbermaid) and found 3 bound books filled with writing. I had honestly forgotten that I had a diary during the first year of each of my children. Stuff I wouldn't put in a scrapbook or blog. They each scrambled for their diary and devoured them. "This is like a real book!" my daughter said. "Yes, a book of you!" I replied.

For years, I have sung "Snuggle Puppy"to my kids before they go to bed at night. With Child #3, it finally caught on! Every night, he asks me to sing "Snuggle" to him and it melts my heart!

Holiday baking! Everyone had duties, there were supplies all over the place and a spare table put up to fill many containers up with goodies. During these times, we would laugh and make a mess and share what's going on in our lives. Each year we made what our favorites were and voted on what other recipes we would use or new ones we would try. It was warm in the house and smelled great. It was great family time that I miss with my Mom, but love still doing with my children and grandchildren.
